    Goaltending need to be addressed....

I want goaltending done this way....not when your player jumps up late and ends up touching the ball while its still on the rim (I know it happens but c'mon)....let the virtual refs get some real work and let them call goaltending or not....

Please have players actually jump high enough on 2k14 to reach the ball.....

one more from McGee...in 2k you practically have to be near the defender to actually have him jump high enough...I want to do something like this...

These were in 2k11, even grabbing the ball out the air. Don't know why they took them out

I agree with you. 2K has made some slight alterations to their goaltending logic over the years but I still think there's a ton of room for improvement. For starters, I still think I'm getting whistled on goaltends on certain plays when I shouldn't. I still seem to experience moments where my defender blocks a shot off the backboard (before the shot itself hits the backboard) yet I am still called for goaltending.

I feel you on your examples too. I think it's partly a goaltending issue and partly a blocking issue. 2K's just never seemed to be able to find a means to make shot blocking realistic. And I can understand their issue, because it seems like it'd be a very tough balance to strike, creating situations where shot blockers can perform real types of blocks without it being extremely easy to put those players in that position (thus resulting in 40 blocks).

Either way, yeah, one of the least fluid and realistic moments in my 2K gaming experience is when a guard is driving the lane from one side of the court and prime Ben Wallace coming from the other side, with the guard tossing up a weak layup and Wallace having a clear and perfect run up, only to not be able to make Ben Wallace and explode upward into the air, instead opting for some strange, grounded jump animation where his arm flails wildly in the wrong direction.

Blocks still happen in 2K, they just don't feel natural. It's like, when I'm able to throw down a vicious two-hand, fist pump slam with Kenyon Martin, that feels like I'm Kenyon Martin dunking like Kenyon Martin. But when I'm blocking a shot with prime Ben Wallace, it rarely feels or looks like real life Ben Wallace blocking a shot - virtually no extension on any block attempts, random swipes, limited vertical, most blocks occurring as the ball was released, etc.

I don't recall emphatic goaltends being a big part of 2K11. But as to why many of those block animations were removed, I think it had to do with 2K's attempt to implement real-time physics, which is what led to all those crazy blocks via a player's armpit, hip, crotch, and head in 2K12.

Also, I recall a lot of those two-person block animations in 2K11 being a little glitchy. My brothers and I used to be able to predict the outcome of fast break layup attempts if a player was being trailed by a highly rated shot blocker. The defender could be way out of reach, yet a block attempt would magically transport them to the front of the offensive player for an incredible block. Also, a lot of those block animations led to the defender having his shoulders even with the rim.

It's still in 2k13 but very rare...I've done it against my brother with Dwight....I'd rather see spike type blocks like the ones I have posted...

          Big problem!

Not to mention majority of the fouls are animation based and stops the users and opponents from reacting after the whistle.

Every time I am in good position for help defense to block a shot and they call a foul my player can't move. Of course I just jump to contest the shot and for the CPU it's a and 1.
          True bout my business, Mane!

I believe I put this in the wishlist or another thread about blocking, but the block button needs a window of release. You should be able to jump early, or late as the ball is in the air. However they have to put the control, the animations and the hand eye coordination in the game. Blocking should be a risk reward thing. Right now we get players jumping with no awareness of the ball, or jump to block, or foul or maybe a chasedown block on occasion. That is your aminations options right now. Sometimes your jumping or lack of jumping with awareness is due to the offense has "won" the animation especially with finshers or the game is trying to keep blocking within a certain count.

It does look stupid when you are not allowed to try to block the continuation lay up.

Yesterday I was playing my association and blocked CP3 with Ibaka in the paint and the ball barely even left his hands and they called a goaltending.

I think what happens is that your brother air balled and dwight picked it up, however, it looks like a block.

What I'd like is a control that lets you cancel your rebound attempt, like when a rebounder realizes the ball is still on the rim and pulls his hands away. Maybe pressing X during a rebound attempt. Just not the rebound button again. No more double taps in this game.
