Jersey Advertisements

We all know that the NBA has decided to sell it's soul to the corporations to generate more ad revenue. They are adding company logos to the jerseys next year. My only question at this point is whether or not 2K has the rights to use these advertisements.

P.S. I really hate the NBA for doing this. It ruins the purity of the NBA and the history of it's jerseys. I hope they do not go overboard with it and only put it on like the bottom of the shorts or something. And the new sleeve fad is only to get more ad space.

I think thats a reason why the league is moving towards uniforms with sleeves - so they can put them there instead of across the chest.

I hope 2K doesn't have any of the rights so we don't have to see them.

No team has agreed to do this so it isnt an issue yet. I assume it will be the same as FIFA where the jerseys have tons of logos.

Umm, actually this isn't happening. They tabled those discussions. NBA teams are allowed to sell advertising on/near the court (scorer's table, backboards, benches), but not on jerseys.

While ads are annoying, I would rather have the jersey covered in them rather than my team be called the Cleveland Red Bull or anything of that sort. I'm also happy that the court isn't littered in them like the ice in hockey.

To calm people down, I'm pretty sure this is still under debate. There have been some articles about it but nothing has been decided yet.

Also, how could we know if 2K were allowed to use them when they haven't even been implemented in the real NBA?

Maybe the advertisers will pay 2K to be in the game and the price of the game can be lowered.

That will never happen, but it should.

Yeah, I remember Steve talking about this in one of the guys' "this game's a blowout so let's talk about other things" chats. He sounded pretty resigned to it. IINM Stern was against it; not sure what Silver thinks. Time'll tell, I guess.
