Era Based Filters/Rules
I think it would be awesome to have filters/rules from the 60's up to current day as a selectable option in a menu. Like current Miami Heat vs. Current OKC with no 3pt line and B&W filter. Current Heat vs. 96 Bulls with hand-checking allowed and 90's look filter. It would also be cool if these rules/filters were used online yet based off of who is the home team. So if Home 96 Bulls goes up against Away (Current)Miami Heat, there would be a 90's filter and 90's rules. If the Heat were home current rules. I know many agree this would take the game to another level presentation wise.BLACK MAMBA

Re: Era Based Filters/Rules
I would love to see this added in. Thats the 1 thing I really liked about NBA2k12 was playing the classic mode with the rules from that era. I also liked the black&white TV presentation. Only thing they didnt do is move the 3pt line back where it was back in the day. Other than Association mode the classic teams is the only other thing I play with NBA2k. I could care less about all the other modes, and I really could care less about that PTG Lebron mode this year they added
I'm sticking with 2k13 and Rayray's ultimate roster packed full of classic teams.
I would love to be able to play with the classic rules and era specific presentation filters.-----------------------------------------

Re: Era Based Filters/Rules
I agree, this would be pretty awesome. I thought 2K was on the trail of something pretty realistic and legitimate in 2K12. I'm guessing it'd have taken quite a bit of work to get those filters crossed over to Quick Games and otherwise, but I think it would have been worth it. If we want to talk about authentication and reality, it was tough to beat playing a 60's Celtics/Lakers matchup in black & white without a three point line and using the rules of the era. To be blunt, I sort of feel like it's a huge waste to have spent the time to implement something so unique, authentic, and spectacular, only to limit it to a specific mode and trash it after a single year.
Awesome experiences:

I wonder if my expectations are too high for next gen because I'm expecting to see these all things and more.Comment

Re: Era Based Filters/Rules
I think there is going to be a lot of disappointment by people who buy the new consoles, at least at the beginning. JMO but I dont think there is going to be as big a jump between games as people think will be this 1st year. In time I see there being a gap between this gen and next gen games just not the 1st year or 2.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Era Based Filters/Rules
The implementation of these filters is no doubt a very involved and time- consuming effort on 2k's part. The ai scripts and logic would need to change from era to era in order to function properly just to name a couple of things needed.
If these filters are something that would be used and appreciated by a lot of people it still might be worth developing... especially if they appeal to people who all play different modes.Comment

Re: Era Based Filters/Rules
If 2k would have just started a strategy the way they did with 2k14 maybe they would have the time to do something like this without having to abandon or give less attention to other parts of the game.
With 2k14 they just looked at 2k13, sat down, took their time and corrected as much as they could, it seems like this would advance their game quicker instead of adding and scrapping game modes and at the same time adding animation on top of animation in a rushed manner b/c their games were starting to look rushed and last minute.
I think if they would have started and continue how they did making 2k14 we would have 2k15 right now, with patches maybe even 16....? Thats not to say they are not correcting things at all but it would have probably gotten rid of or reduced the things we have seen since the beginnings of nba 2k.Comment

Re: Era Based Filters/Rules
Another idea I would like 2K to pursue is a Classic Association Mode(Next Gen). Allow us to choose any of the current Classic teams(on their roster) and take them through an Association with all the teams from that year. It does seem pretty far fetched but I'm hoping it could be done for next gen.BLACK MAMBA
