    PS4 NBA2K and Virtual Reality

    So....

Sony looks to be pushing into Virtual Reality with a headset device (pic below) according to several mainstream gaming sources. Source Source

Now this is just a rumor right now.

But lets do remember who the last company was that tried a 1st-person POV in a sports game was.

    Spoiler

With that, ya think it could be a possibility of seeing a 1st person POV in a basketball game in the future? Well of course it could happen... question is, would you like to see that happen?

Imagine, getting your 3d head scanned so that you have a virtual you (previously talked about) for your MyPlayer, hopping online and competing against 9 others all wearing a VR headset.

Now for the control aspect, you'd still be tied to a controller more than likely. I think that there might still be some disconnect between what your seeing and doing with a controller controlling your action, but it has been done before.

Was NFL2K5 POV mode ahead of its time?

    What you say OS?

I think it could be a good idea if implemented properly.

Like, imagine calling for an iso and having to break down your man with a series of dribbles, causing him to stumble before attacking the paint or pulling up for an uncontested jumper.

There are multiple scenarios where I could see this working out greatly. But on the flip side, it could be a very bad experience as well. The disconnect between what you're seeing and what you're doing with the controller could be a bit of a hassle.

For me, when playing basketball, I rarely think about what I'm doing and there isn't any delay. Not saying there would be a huge delay between VR device, controller, and what you are actually doing. But in basketball, there would have to be little to no delay in response time since basketball is a quick reaction sport.

The controls would be the key to the experience, agreed.

Just putting a first person mode on 2k may not be a quality experience. A lot of things I could see being iffy, like dribbling. I think the best thing would be for someone to make a new NBA game that is made to be a VR game. If done right it could be incredible.

I am glad that VR in general is kind of making a comeback. They first released it in the arcades decades ago and it flopped due to being expensive and the games weren't good. I've always thought that if they kept up with the technology it would be amazing by now. Now that its back, maybe in the future you can put on VR glasses, go outside with your VR compatible basketball, and play a 5x5 game while getting a workout(although I don't know how the ball will move around when you're not holding it. Hovering ball technology?).
