Why are most players so inconsistent?

I was just playing with steph curry awhile ago and one possession he would make a contested 3 and the next he would miss a wide open mid range a+ release. And this happens all the time with all different players.

Does anyone know why this is? I thought it was just me at first, but now I'm seeing this happen to people on youtube

I see players miss green shots all the time, including Ray Allen missing excellent A+ 3s. Not sure what the issue is but it's not right.

Hate to play the devil's advocate, but that's the way it is in real life. Even guys like Ray Allen and Steph Curry miss open threes sometimes. Remember, even though they shoot a very high 3pt%, they still miss over half their three point attempts.

Yes this is true and you are very right, but nba2k is kinda like a arcade-y type of game, so I would assume that its not 100% like the real nba

They don't miss perfect shots though, that's the real problem IMO. If a shot is excellent, A+, uncontested, it should be wet from clutch players.

NO a shot shouldnt be "wet" because someone is open cmon guys this is a simulation . Curry doesn't shoot 100% if open even in practice IRL

This thinking is what makes it a continuous battle to get a Sim experience by default. People always remember the highlights, but never the 55% of the shots a 45% sniper misses.

I saw Curry get beat by his dad in a game of PIG. A lot factors into what a good shot is. Just saying you are open or it was contested and he hit it isn't enough info to go on.

The 3 point consistency is fine. I still torch with Curry, but now it seems (limited sample size) that a few more open shots miss and a few more contested shots go in, which is the way it should be. Previous 2K's had open shots nearly automatic and contested 3's nearly impossible (unless online and doing some cheese).

I still shoot a good consistent percentage overall (40-45%) on Allstar.

There's no petitons going on whatsoever. I'm just wondering why it is the way it is
