Plays breaking up for no real reason? 2K14

Quick thing about how I play the game:
I play Association, using only the PG and letting the rest of my team be AI.
I put calls on Auto (Working on trying to call my own plays, But I don't feel like I have the time to learn them and use them properly) and have the full call display on court.

I essentially like to play/watch realistic basketball in 2K but can't really multitask to the point of controlling my entire team. Controlling the PG has allowed me to play the game but not be overwhelmed in all 2K games.

But, the issue for me is the plays called by the coach are always breaking up for no real reason. I could be following the play to perfection but it will randomly dissapear and he will call a new one... then that one disappears and the process repeats.

This is forcing me to play "freestyling" basketball and that just isn't a good way to do things nor is it any kind of realistic basketball.

Any suggestions on why its happening or ways I can work around this?

    Thanks.

Does it for everyone. I don't know what the key is. I heard one thing that craps it out is a change in defense. But I don't think the CPU is changing D that much. If anyone knows the answer to this, I am curious as well.

Normally (every year) veteran OS'er Vannwolfhawk shows up and magically makes the game playable. But he may not buy the game this year because 2k has taken his toys away.

This may be a good thing in a horrible way. I believe most the people who contribute good rosters to 2kshare are pissed off to the point of dropping this game.

I hope this reflects itself in sales and makes the developers think twice before neglecting a huge part of their community for seemingly no reason.

What did they take away exactly?

I'm very aware of who he is and what he does, I always used a roster with his plays

In short, they took away his ability to be happy. Lol

2k removed coach mode as well as "practice plays". And I believe they renamed a majority of the plays (I could be wrong) but all of that combined makes it super time consuming and frustrating to come up with a functional idea of which plays work.

So is this just a roster issue or a gameplay that needs a patch issue?

Because I'm on PC and theres no way that we are going to get any patches.. at least I doubt it.

The Classic Playbooks are unchanged, which is disappointing, however since they are the same the plays that worked in 2k13 they still seem to work and can be easily found.

I also think some of the broken play issues are due to players having 'Drive the Lane' and 'No Triple Threat' too high, this leads to players "breaking" the play instead of letting it unfold as i should. Of course the operative word is "think" testing plays to see what the CPU is doing is much harder with things like coach mode removed.

add in that certain attributes are being hard coded (mainly some tendencies) and it might be a rough roster season for us fans.

edit: found the thread which made most of my post redundant.

Re: Plays breaking up for no real reason? 2K14

In your playbook there's 2 types of plays, quick developing plays (simple plays maybe 1-2 passes before the play is complete) & run clock plays ( the more elaborate plays).

When the AI is calling plays for you, they will pick one depending on the situation. It depends on the team your using, based on tempo on which type is initially called (fast pace teams = a lot of quick plays are called, slow pace teams = more elaborate plays are called). If your running out of time to finish running an elaborate play, lose the ball, or go into one of those time consuming funky animations, where your dribbling & it looks like your ready to tip over, then the AI will call a quick developing play instead.

Another thing could be you were running a simple quick play & nothing was achieved, so they called another one. Without Practice Play Mode, you can't really see how the play is truly developed & how elaborate each play is.

My best answer is you might just haven't played the game long enough to realize which style each play has, so it's looks like the AI is switching up on you all the time. I figure once a month goes by, you'll be aware on what is what & recognize how long each play in your playbook is & how much time it takes to run it.

Damn van really gave me a better experience. He cut out broken plays and gave teams plays that fit their system in real life. Appreciated his work.
