Anyone notice that a little over half the games over the last two days had instances where 20 points leads were cut down significantly or completely come back from?

Just thought that was interesting considering the conversation we had a couple of weeks ago...

Yes sir,

NBA is a game of runs eg: hot and cold streaks. 2K has the best sim engine for handling that issue. I don't understand why people who play Sim B-ball don't like the combacks or consistency in 2K. For one the hot cold streaks are based on sliders and game playing time. eg: you play 6min quarters you will have a hella lot of lead changes in qtr 1 & 3 and hella hot cold streak in Qtr 2 & 4.Just like the NBA.


IMO if people want to restrict the "yo-yo" effect then they need to up the game minutes, change game speed and take high percentage shots. Its real easy to blow out the cpu team. They really cant defend the mid range area for some reason. They may look like they are going to defend and might even raise there hands like they are blocking your shot, but some funky stuff goes on in mid-range area to make shooting easy


2k has listened to Sim community and casual gamers. Most of the time it's user playing style that make "yo-yo" effect happen.

I have always found it funny how people will complain if the team they play against comes back on them, but yet you wont hear them complain if they actually are the team that comes back,lol. People who watch the NBA know or should know that all because a team gets out to a big league dont mean they will run away with the game. The NBA is a game of spurts. I never have felt that there was some comback code in this game, imo its actually one thing that 2k nails pretty good. If you continue to play well you will win by a large margin, if you slip teams will come back.

I'm finally back from my Medic Comp and I was going to make a video showing the facts that 'comebacks' happen way to often but the sarcasm and 'chasing the tail' statements aren't throwing coal on that fire.

I believe they exist and I wish it was looked into - because it has been an issue since almost 2k10 - but the powers that be deny it exists.

I'd love to see someone Twitch a game on SS/HoF and they blow the CPU out by 30 points while playing sim basketball or at least not gaming the game. Heck, I'd settle for 20 points.

I don't really believe there is specific comeback logic.

I do believe that runs can be overpowered and online, with weird shot logic, ineffectual layup defense, and cheese tactics, comeback runs can come easily. When the run happens for the losing team that's rewarded for bad play, it feels like "comeback logic". My feeling is that it's really just a symptom of problematic game balance.

Again, I think it's poor game balance-- the CPU gets ridiculous attribute boosts on HoF, so it's very difficult to sustain a defense against it for all 48 minutes. Once the CPU makes a few shots, with default sliders that essentially has the CPU playing like a paint cheeser, the momentum starts to grow and combined with fatigue and our own frustrated play, can eventually become overpowering.

Hopefully someone could do something like a 10 game sample, and we can take a look from there...1 or 2 games wouldn't be enough being that you can't just blow out anyone on command...or shouldn't be able to..

Doesn't matter man. You'll get the same dudes coming in here saying it "never" happens in the NBA like that.

As long as VC doesn't mess with it, I'm cool. I'm sure they will continue to try to balance out the components that drive the runs. Put runs are part of the game. Period. History bares witness to that.

The only way anyone can prove anything would be the actually see the code. And I don't see that happening any time soon. Anyone can record 10 games that support whatever position they want to take. That would prove nothing. As someone said: "the NBA needs a patch!".

Comebacks definitely happen in most NBA games. I think the frustration with the comebacks in 2k though stems from how all of a sudden things just stop working. I mean, I have noticed players missing pretty easy and open shots (not necessarily 3 pointers but even just free throw stripe jumpers) during comebacks. That being said it can make it a more intense game as long as the other player doesn't just use cheese to get all the momentum and win.

Cant compare real life game to a video game. In this game you have users that have no clue what they are doing and still succeeding. Throwing up ridiculous shots reaching like crazy with no penalty, turning garbage non low post players into Hakeem O in his prime. No foul logic.

6 min quarters with 6 fouls to foul out still and back to back timeouts to bring your stamina back to where it was before you started the game.

Definitely not comparable.

Difference being the actual players in the real NBA cause and initiate the comeback, where as in 2k things can get a little scripted in some games. When you're down, expect more questionable shots to go in all of a sudden. The result doesn't excuse the means to get there. Like another example is real NBA shot %. That works for simulating, but the realism should depend on what's going on the court, not some predetermined number. Like if i shoot 45% . Does that mean it's "realistic?" No, it depends what happened for me to get to that number. Was it the defense's effect or did I just brick a bunch of wide open shots just so that the 'result' would LOOK realistic? etc

That's how I felt as I watched the Bulls just stop in the second quarter of the Heat game. It happens guys! Alot.
