The "Take Charge" feature is COMPLETELY BROKEN in this game.

I know this game has been out for a while now, and alot of you guys have experienced this, but this is one of the most blatant screw ups in the game that I notice. The take charge feature (holding B on defense) is completely and ridiculously BROKEN. How is it that you can be on defense and get in perfect position near the rim, anticipate your opponent driving, get set in take charge position WELL before your opponent barrels into you, and it almost never ever calls it a charge, and will result in a blocking foul 90% of the time?

I have seen it time after time. I have literally played games against the people that do nothing but turbo w/ lebron to the rim, and got in front of him 5 or 6 times completely set, sometimes over 2 seconds in advance, get trucked by lebron, and it's never a charge.

Yet, on the other hand, you can get in the take charge position 85 feet from the rim and if the player with the ball even breathes on the defender it is a charge. I really wonder if 2k even spends 15 minutes testing details like the take charge feature before they release the game.

Charge call in NBA2k have been broken for quite a while now. I think the last time charges was realistic was in NBA2k10. I think because of online players crying that it was to easy to draw a charge because you had idiot online gamers spamming it that they basically made charges nonexistent. Its very rare to see the AI take a charge at all, and i do occasionally draw a charge, but its not realistic amount. I honestly dont know if they will ever get this right, it is a little better this year than it has been for a few years but needs a lot of work still.

I disagree, I think the charge call is properly tweaked in this game.
I like the non-calls and the suspect calls, and sometimes the correct calls on the charge. this is NBA not College.
I also dont play on-line so that could be the reason, I dont find it to be an issue.

It's never an issue for me when I play offline either. Online play is when you will really see the flaws with it.

i dont think its broken in the sense that you say it is. i get charge calls when i actually set my feet and get barreled into.... the problem is that its almost impossible to get in position for a charge because its so easy for the offensive player to just weave around you.

MyCareer is worse when it comes to this issue. Teammates are ALWAYS standing in the paint drawing charges. NOT ONCE have I seen one of my teammates properly draw a charge. I've done it a few times, but this is definitely bugged. It seems to trigger as a blocking foul as soon as the square button is pressed, and not drawn as the opponent is rising up.

I disagree I have played hundreds of 2k14 games vs the computer with tens of different rosters and slider sets.. and still I haven't seen the cpu get a charge or even attempt trying to get a charge call.

Yep, same here. If you watch the NBA there are a few charging calls every game. You will not see that in NBA2k, or atleast offline anyway, I cant vouch for online cause I dont play online. I do know in NBA2k10 you would see quite a few charges called, but it was something online gamers could spam and of course they did which in turn I think ruined charging calls in the game. After that year Charges have been very rare. Now I can get a charge or 2 call myself in a game, but its extremely rare to see the AI get one. Only time I have seen the AI get one is on a back down in the post and even then its very rare.

It's funny because I remember playing 2k11 and seeing the charges being called a lot more. The only time I really use the take charge control though is when I'm forced to online. If anyone remembers that super cheesy gigantic hopstep that people would use to get right next to the rim in 2k11, that was where I would draw charges against people. Now though, in 2k14 everytime I have tried to get in position under the rim and thought I had set it up perfect it just never seems to be called a charge.

For offline, like someone else in this thread was saying, I too have seen my computer AI teammates try without any success to draw charges. Nikola Vucevic in my association must have tried 100 times during one season to get one and maybe got awarded 2.
