We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
development wise, 2k is 3/4 years in on the next gen consoles. Every console release follows the same business model.
all developers in the past never slashed prices on the older gen games, why would any company start now.
there are still more older gen consoles in use, than the enxt gen consoles, so you are talking about major loss in if they slashed the price of games.
By next year, Id be surprised if the majority of these companies continue to make games for both gen consoles.
it's disappointing but at some point folks will have to make the transition to next gen. Im sure there will be a price cut on the consoles by next year also.
Yeah, with uncertainty, I would guess the math has been done by companies regarding last-gen products and they've concluded that selling at full price, even for a barely upgraded product, still makes the most fiscal sense for them as a company. Perhaps the people who were going to buy it, were going to buy it, regardless of price - or at least at a more profitable rate than, say, the number of increased sales that'd come from a $40 price tag.
I will say, the writing seemed to be on the wall, with virtually no information released about 2K15 on the 360/PS3 prior to release. It is a bummer for those without new consoles (that includes me) but I do not know what could be done. Heavily splintering development between new gen and old gen would likely end up hurting 2K as a company than help at this point.
I kind of went through this with 2K7 as well. I was still a PS2 guy at that point, but I swear the PS2 version at least had a handful of signature shots introduced, but I do not think there was much more beyond that. I got lucky and found a great deal on a 360 that winter ($100 off). I'm hoping something similar might come about for the PS4.
Don't know if I'm gone get 2k15 or not. I mainly play My player and online. Updated the rosters for 2k14, but as I suspected, can't use the new team rosters online. If I do buy 2k15, it'll be the last 2k I buy on old consoles.
I figured since there was no earth shattering news on the new game it meant a roster update and a shoe shine for $60. FWIW I still play 13 and 14 a lot some of the older games on occasion. Minor tweaks to ball physics aside The Show is the same since 11. 2k doesn't have a monopoly on what's going on here. Sticking with current gen PS3 for at least a couple of more years. I see no game out there making me get a next gen console yet.
Hmm, don't think I agree. Why should they slash prices? You aren't forced to buy the game.
There hasn't been a lot of info for the last gen version so in all fairness, why should you just automatically buy it when there's no info on it before release.
I'm in the menus and I'm not seeing Online Association anywhere. I think they removed the mode altogether. Trying not to cuss but what the heck. They give us a barebones online league for next gen so me and friends were still assuming they at least left online associations in even if it went untouched. But to completely remove it. Wow. I just picked the game up on redbox so only out of $2 luckily.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME FOR LAST GEN. I am an old school 2k guy. Went out last night to get my ps3 copy. The game is the same as 2k14. Save your money for new system. Played for a few hours last night. My player is the same. Rookie showcase and draft. In a gm meeting I said something about David stern as commish. Steve Kerr announcing. Love on twolves. Preorder vc didn't work. Haven't checked today. New shoot system sucks. I played one blacktop game. Same court. Had a good game with epic comeback for the win and them gave me the loss. My team has only 3 packs. Can't buy players only packs. No team packs is good. You can still buy vc and boost your my player up.
So happy I logged in before running to gamestop after work.... I feel like I should just divvy up 60 bucks and give to all you guys, at least then I wouldn't feel my heart getting ripped out by one of the few gaming devs i still have some respect for, this is bs though. Will go waste 140 characters on Twitter to let them know how i feel, but IDK if their twitter still runs on last gen. What a crock, i was so excited for this too smh...

Ugh... I used to only play with friends in online associations and was looking forward to take the next step into online leagues, but from what we have learned so far online leagues are pretty barebone. So i made same assumption that 2k would at least leave online association in even though untouched! Guess i was wrong.. wow..
From what I have read on the boards, EA did pretty much the same with last gen Madden & NHL. Not sure about Fifa or MLBTS?
I am still on the 360, but I am just an offline gamer. So sticking with '14 works for me.
I don't agree with that about Madden, don't play NHL. Maddens gameplay is the best I think it's ever been, but that may just be me. Defense is greatly improved as well as route running and coverages.

Madden is pretty good and FIFA is also very good on last gen. Then again those are the two biggest moneymakers for EA Sports so I don't think they would screw it up that much the last gen users.

Yup at least in madden 15 I could see and feel improvement. And at least EA improved their game modes, and added in gauntlet mode as they did in next gen consoles.
Seriously pissed about 2K and I haven't even bought it....sorry to ya'll who shelled out your money already... maybe try to flip it on craigslist as a same day release for like $50 and at least try and get some of your money back...
