Re: Where is the interest in the 2K league
I don't think many have interest in this league, especially on OS which is slanted toward the SIM community -

Re: Where is the interest in the 2K league
I don't think its really there. The little bit I have watched seems to be that most teams play the exact same way. I also cant stand watching these games on Drive cam or whatever.
I have also found most of the "players" to be incredibly annoying. Its like the dude in the neighborhood that played the same game constantly and just beat up on everyone that played with him, yelling "lets go!" all the time.
They have a problem.GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

It’s tough for me to get into it because it looks like your typical pro am/rec game on twitch. I thought these guys were the best of the best lol.Comment

Re: Where is the interest in the 2K league
I can only speak for myself but I was surprised to see a devoted 2K league subforum pop up here. I'm not sure I see a large scale draw at Operation Sports. Who's the target audience and why would they watch other players play 2K over and over again? To be clear, that's not intended as a slight toward those who do watch, I'm just not sure if there's broad appeal beyond niche.Comment

Re: Where is the interest in the 2K league
I don't think there will be serious interest in the 2K League until 2K makes their game more balanced and not so skewed in favor of sharpshooting.
Every single game of the 2K League I've watched was the exact same. Just about every team is the same and plays the same. They all just pick & roll spam with a sharpshooter and big man with Brick Wall. There's no ball movement, plays, or real strategy involved. It's just who can manipulate their left stick best to hide behind glitchy, overpowered screen animations.
It's boring. It gives the impression that the players in the league aren't "elite" at the game...they're just the ones that had countless hours upon hours to sit 45 minutes a pop trying to play pro-am and JRC games.
2K NEEDS to address the OP-ness of sharpshooters and their screen animations and force players to branch out and use different playstyles in the Park or else we'll continue to see everyone play the same boring style and the 2K league will fizzle out.Comment

Re: Where is the interest in the 2K league
I wish OS didn't put this league forum at the top of the basketball forums list - clicking the top link for NBA 2K discussion is a habit and I keep clicking into this place. I get the commercial takeover of OS by comp interests but forcing priority on people never works.Comment

2K couldn't care less as long as people keep buying VC, but they'll never escape the community feeling like a loose collection of unstable addicts at this rate.Comment

Re: Where is the interest in the 2K league
I'm a huge fan of playing Pro-AM and watched a couple of the games. But Pro-AM and the 2kleague are two different things. Sliders are different and there are limits to which archetypes you can use. If you had the opportunity to play with the same sliders and archetypes as the 2kleague, I would probably be playing that, and then also watch the league more as a way to improve.
2k/NBA also do a terrible job of announcing the games to get more people involved.
IMHO they've approached esports completely wrong. If the community had the right tools for it, the esports side would explode. I've tried running a Pro-AM tournament with JLB who was in the eLeague last year, but due to the lack of proper tools (was no private matchup at the time), the league was closed. In the short time it was running, it created a lot of buzz in the community and the competitiveness of the European teams definitely increased.
If the 2kleague doesn't learn from it's mistakes I don't see it having a very long life.Comment

Personally, I was more interested in this type of thing when they ran/hosted tournaments; as being to participate was literally open to anyone.
Also, from the little I've seen, I have no interest in watching 5-out isos all game. It may be a system for winning, but is not entertaining to watch.PSN: KarlMarx24Comment
