Blog: MyNBA2K16's Auction House

The Auction House has been a great way for players to exchange cards with each other, acquire cards you need, and earn some currency for cards that were not much use to you. We’re making some refinements to it though that ultimately will make the Auction House economy more healthy and ties in with our new currency, Reward Points (RP).

As we discussed last week, RP can be earned by Vendoring cards and from completing Goals. You’ll be able to then take that RP and use it for a wide variety of uses in game including buying and selling cards on the Auction House. Credits will still be a currency in the game, but Credits will only come from real money purchases (more on this another time). RP is the currency that will be used more broadly throughout the game and what is earned on the Auction House when you sell a card. Since cards will have an inherent Vendor Value the Minimum Bid requirements are changing to be specific to the card’s vendor value.

The Minimum Bid is changing to be based on Vendor Value. The new method of assigning a Minimum Bid in MyNBA2K16 is based on the Vendor Value of the card, and the Vendor Value is based on the stats of the card. So, cards that are leveled up or Proed will have a natural higher Minimum Bid, but how much higher will be based on the Vendor Value of the card instead of fixed values like in ‘15. This should give a broader price range between tiers since a single tier card will price well when next to a lower tier Pro card. Note that only cards pulled from the Draft Board will be auction-able, reducing the supply of cards on the Auction House. This is to ensure that you always get a good price when an auctioned card is sold, thus a more healthy economy is established.

Another highly requested Auction House change we’re making with MyNBA2K16 is the removal of the Listing Fee. Cards will no longer cost anything to post up for sale on the Auction House. This effectively lowers the cost of using the Auction House and increases your potential profit from selling cards.

The Auction House will be available when MyNBA2K16 launches, so jump on in and enjoy the new changes when the game launches.

Hi Brad.

Any idea how much the taxes will be yet?

Glad you like the changes. There will be a tax. We can't say yet whether it will be 30% again or lower. I can say it will be no higher than 30% (small comfort I know). We just need to playtest more with it and finish running models with all the changes.
