Don't take this as gospel, someone else may correct me. I always thought shadowmods change the darkness or intensity of shadows to create a more realistic perception of depth on the player models. It's like a drawing without a lot of shading looks flat, but add in detailed shading and you get a more three dimensional image.

Photomods attempt to create a more realistic image by adjusting the color and lighting aspect of the game. Making blacks darker or muting colors like reds that tend to bleed or sharpen colors that look bland or pale. I always thought of it as creating a more photo realistic image by adjusting colors.

When you find two that work together, you have nice shadows and realistic lighting and colors to make the game look 10 times better.

I'm not sure if I'm 100% correct (anybody can feel free to add more insight). It has just been my experience downloading mods the last few years. I just thought I'd give it a shot since you didn't get any other answers.

The way I understand it those two are somewhat interchangeable. The photomods (as in photorealistic) are supposed to create better image quality by enhancing lighting. But this also applies to a shadowmod because the game usually comes out a bit flat in the lighting area.
Everything in the game is rather close in terms of lighting intensity and a shadowmod focuses on those supposedly darker areas to create some real dark spots in the image where they should appear and therefore adding more depth and realism to the image.
That is the aspect where shadowmod and photomod are the same I guess. Only that a photomod may even go beyond that by changing overall colouring and brightness to create certain effects, not only to add shadowy areas.

Amarowade's D. Rose is nice. Plus the level of detail on pzea's jerseys is scary. I had to crop the picks to meet the file size limit.

I hope he will do the Blazers jerseys as well

Do you use some other player textures in that image ? The skin looks more detailed than in the base game imo.

Yep, I'm using the crystal clear photo mod, michaelvlutz49's shadow mode stadium mod & enhanced skin V2 global.

Thanks. I think I already have a mod that changes the global.iff. Maybe I can combine these two, will see.

My Iverson, for use with some rosters that is coming out soon. NOTE: I did not make the texture, just found a headshape that would "work". It's not perfect... but it'll suffice until the headshape editor drops.
it replaced cartier martin's face when i use kc2135's roster in my game. is it not possible to assign a new png for iverson without disturbing other existing player's faces?

Re: NBA 2K12 PC Modding (Links to Mods)

I'm not sure man. I was just asked to find a headshape that would "work" for Iverson, and retexture it. I'm pretty sure that he named the Iverson png 9954 or something like that. How it effects the roster, I'm unsure. I would think it's easily possible using that Chinese Trainer, but not 100% on that.
