Is it possible to have 5.1 sound on pc?

Hey all.

This is my first post here, but that does not matter.
I just bought nba2k12 for the pc since i played 2k11 a lot, and found out that it was pretty nice.
But as for 2k11, as for 2k12, i was not able to bring 5.1 sound out of my speakers.
Now i do have a creative soundblaster x-fi fatal1ty gamer championship edition sound card, and that card is able to convert a stereo output to a multi channel (4.0, 5.1 and 7.1) output. But this will not work for nba 2k11 nor 2k12.
Did 2k not made an option to give us 5.1 sound? Or am I doing something wrong?

nope I don't thinks it's possible...I actually asked for this in the wishlist thread but seeing how patches are handled for the PC version whats the point in asking...

I've asked around if someone found ini. file for NBA2k, no luck...Bad Company had an option for sound where you can put in the amount of speaker output
