PC heads...a little help?

Evening all,

just got 2k13 for the pc and am having some teething troubles. Finally managed to get it running after much hassle, but now it seems pretty laggy and won't go much over 28/30 fps - i'm a bit of a novice when it comes to PC graphics etc - i've included my specs below, is my pc actually capable of running this game smoothly or am I looking at an upgrade here?

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130318-1533)
System Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 4096MB RAM
Page File: 1882MB used, 6306MB available
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce G210
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce G210
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Display Memory: 2258 MB
Dedicated Memory: 466 MB
Shared Memory: 1791 MB
Current Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz)

It's the graphics card. It's not really meant for "heavy" gaming. Given that NBA 2k PC series has never been greatly optimized, you're bound to get that sort of frame rate. Even when exceeding the recommended specs in these games you can have problems. Upgrade GPU if possible, although its difficult sometimes with these pre-built brand models as the motherboards and the case fittings don't make life easy when trying to replace components.

Many thanks man, appreciated.

How much would I be looking at to get a semi decent graphics card to play 2k13 at a reasonable rate?

Re: PC heads...a little help?

Are you looking for 2k13 exclusively or any other games? I mean, you can get an ok gaming card for about $100 and sometimes even less, but budget gaming cards come with certain limitations if you want it to last for future iterations of the game. I'm thinking that the PC port of 2k14 would be similar specs to 2k13 just as 2k12 was since they will mostly likely be using the same engine, therefore you wouldn't have to spend a lot.

Edit: Just to give you an idea, here's a budget video card that will definitely run NBA 2k13 (and probably 14) without struggling too much: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131477

But what you really need to be careful is that the card that you purchase is compatible with the rest of your system. It has to be within the Power Supply limitations, it has to fit the connections provided by your motherboard, and it has to fit your case. Higher end cards tend to be quite bulky and do not fit many pre-built systems. Be careful of making any impulse buys as you could easily waste your money and later find out that you need to replace several components to be able to install it.

Re: PC heads...a little help?

Once again - many thanks for the info and all your help my friend.

I'm just looking play 2k13 on the PC, I'll use my PS3/4 for everything else.

I may take my rig down to my local PC store on the weekend and get someone to take a look at it/give me info on what graphics card I'm able to install without need for additional components.

Thanks again!

Try lowering your resolution first. You won't get smooth fps @ 1080p with your spec

Hello i have a question, I'm switching from 360 to PC and I was wondering if this laptop can run NBA 2k13 without lag.
Compaq Presario CQ50-130US 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.0 GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core T3200 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium)
Edit: It was also upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate.

No chance. Maybe on low details.
