I don't see why they would give the activation code when steam isn't allowing downloads yet... I don't do many purchases except for sports..I wouldn't activate the key until it's officially released in your country...
I'm thinking midnight E.S.T Friday morning..in U.S.A .

Actually scratch that when steam says order/download now. That's when I enter it.

I'm pretty sure you'll be safe if anything occurs.. contact the company NOT steam and let them know they will take care of you assuming they're legit..

mmoga is my most trusted shop i never once had even the slightest Problem with their Keys.

Don't worry then worst case scenario which I don't see as being a problem was activating early..

But key was accepted... If you have any issues as soon as 2k17 launches on steam.. contact mmoga I know they're legit in the U.S...
I Don't see you having any problems.. personally I would of done the same thing you did get the key early and try to download.. but I do know it can't be downloaded until steam "let's us".

is it normal that in my library it just says "Bought: Today"(in German Gekauft: Heute) where the usual Install or Play button should be?
Its so long ago that i preordered on Steam that i cant remember at all^^
