    NBA 2K in 4K?

    Hi all,

I am strongly considering buying a 4K monitor and GPU before 2K18 arrives. This will end up being fairly costly. Currently I am gaming in 1440p and it's great.

I know what the generic sort of answer is, but who can say they've played a 2K in 4K before? And what are the general thoughts/recommendations in doing so?

Essentially, is it worth it or am I just looking for a reason to burn money?

    Thanks in advance guys.

A year from now it all will be a lot less expensive (like a 1080 and a 4K monitor) so I'd probably just wait another 2K season but that's just me.

4k 120hz with HDR or bust!

I'm good with my ultrawide and 1440 gsync monitor setup. I would suggest and lurk at overclock.net for info and reviews. Enjoy! Best place to read up on upcoming monitors or nice cheap 4k ones. Better read up on things before plopping down the cash when it comes to monitors. Took me a good year to decide on mine....

2K17 runs 10x worse then 2K16 and does not look any better. In 2K16 I got rocksolid 144FPS during Gameplay and in 2K17 I barely can keep 60 ._.

I really doubt you will be able to get anywhere close to 144FPS in 2160p.

          Re: NBA 2K in 4K?

          I recently upgraded my Gtx780 to a 1080ti and also bought a 40 inch 4K monitor. Suffice to say 2K17 looks incredible. Ironically I couldn't run it at 60fps & 1080p on my 780 but now with 1080ti I've got a rock solid 60fps @4K.

It's definitely true that 2K17 ran a hell of a lot worse than 2K16, I suspect it was far more hungry for VRAM. I only had 3gb on the 780 and so would constantly get stuttering and dips into the 50s. The 1080ti has 11gb and now the game never feels like it's breaking a sweat. All with the same CPU I've had since 2013. A 4670K overclocked to 4.2

I don't think you're looking to burn money but the outlay needed is pretty steep. Also consider that even with the 1080ti we still don't have a single GPU that can run every game at ultra settings and maintain a locked 60fps. Even really well optimised ports like GTA V need tweaking to get there. If you're happy at 1440p then maybe it would be wise to wait another year or two? My reason for upgrading was simple. I hadn't touched my system since 2013 and I scored a big tax return in addition to finally getting a pay rise. I realise I'm in a very lucky position to be able to do so.

That said, I'm not thrilled with my monitor choice. I went with a 40 inch Philips monitor and I'm already frustrated with the amount of ghosting present in dark scenes. Not a problem in 2K but in a ton of other titles it is.

I guess the perfect rig is always just around the corner...

I'm playing on a 40 inch ultrawide monitor and running two 1080s and I can honestly say that I don't regret going back to pc gaming. 2k looks atunning in 4k and 17 runs pretty smooth on my rig. If you're only upgrading to just play 2k I wouldn't do it. But if you're into playing other pc games I would do it in a heart beat.

I'd like to see the release of the ASUS PG27UQ before I do anything.

Gunning 2K at 4K 60fps is the priority. But for the cost of this monitor potentially and a new GPU, I'd be loathed to game anything else under 4K.

So if the 1080ti is going to be a stretch to achieve this, perhaps waiting is the best bet.

I think that monitor is a lock choice though.

Been playing in 4k for entire year, 1386 hours to be precise, in 4k in 60 fps. Running Asus Strix 980Ti factory overclocked. It's glorious, it's such a pure enjoyment, of course online ruins it because of lag but offline games like that my brother and I are playing, it's absolutely amazing. Probably gonna need to tweak some settings to reach 60 fps for 2k18, but from your perspective if you get a 1080Ti, it should be working just fine.

There's other things besides the cpu and GPU. . There's mother board the ram.

I get 60 fps in 4K also,I don't play online so I wouldn't know about GPS. .but most 4K tvs and hdtvs have a thing called game mode..it slightly changes..but you get about 5-6 ms.. response. . Which is pretty good..

Again mine is only a hi sense $450 50 inch 4ktv..didn't spend a ton...so far so happy..haven't used my monitor since.

Actually could sell my monitor for $125 or so.making the 4K tv a but over 300.

Nice...I didn't have room for anything that much bigger...otherwise would have had to hang the thing...right now fits perfectly on the TV stand.

Do you use game mode on the TV? I would think if I can get 5-6 ms on game mode imagine what you could get.

                              Enjoy it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ
