"NBA Live 09 could end up being its own worst enemy. This year, as the Live feature set continues to balloon and impress, the gameplay has to try and keep up. Let’s not forget that just two years ago the Live series was in shambles; but, while the gameplay has been re-created during the last few years, the feature set has been going full speed ahead -- especially this year. We’ve talked about Online Team Play and Live 365 on OS in the past, so I’m not going to regurgitate info about those features, but keep the Live feature set in the back of your head as you read this, because it’s an important part of my original point."

Same old garbage gameplay that you can count on EA to deliver when it comes to Live. All gimmicks no substance. WE DONT BELIEVE YOU EA YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE!

Great preview - Sounds like EA has caught themselves in the realm of making the game pretty to look at and feature happy like they have with Madden - and missed out on the true nature of the game - "gameplay". I feel this is why 2K does so well. Although it does have visuals that stand out, the gameplay is king for them and it works...

It sounds more to me like EA is caught in a rebuilding phase for Live much like 2k is starting this year with NHL2k9. The hate around OS these days is to such a level of rediculousness its not even funny. Both companies are capable of putting out high quality sports games, get past whose name is on the box and just enjoy the damn games already people.

Ha, you'd think I said I hated the game. It's not like I didn't have some fun playing it, it just might be caught in a weird spot from an overall perspective.

I was refering to the first couple replies Chase, I thought it was a great write up and pretty much what I expected of Live this year, its better but not quite where it needs to be yet.

Seems like a definate rental choice from gamefly for me. No purchase though too many other good games coming down that warrant that $60.

I think Live 09 will be a great with 2K out there regardless. I love the new graphics and I saw some excellent video and the game look smooth and the animations are spot on this year, not to mention the excellent player faces. It's going to be a nice second option for people who want 2 b'ball games in their library, it's as simple as that!

I think Live 09 will be a great with 2K out there regardless.
