We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
Though I'd kill to hear Jeff lose it when you give up an offensive rebound on a free throw.
That would be epic.
I like Breen mostly for the "BANG!" when someone hits a big shot. But yeah, Live's team is good, I think the storylines will help keep it fresh, but 09 was the only b-ball game I've left the commentary on for more than a few months...
But just from afar I can tell exactly right now the interior defense needs to be tweaked with sliders.
A defense that has KG and Knucklehead (R.W.) inside arguably two of the best ever low post defenders shouldn't have guys just going to the rack on cruise control. One of Boston's strength's defensively is their ability to rotate and bring helpside defense quickly.
I also thought the passing was kinda sloppy but that can be tweaked by reducing the INT slider.
CPU offense was running the same generic default plays from what I saw. Usually those plays consist of very little ball movement and they give you simple catch and shoot plays and a basic post up play.
But from what I read we have unlimited potential to enhance the CPU's offensive sets this year. I also think the physicality (sp)can be stepped up a bit and maybe lowering speed will result in more contact or help the game render more physical play inside.
Of course this wouldn't apply to teams such as Phoenix and Golden St but you get the idea of where I'm going with it especially for playoff type games or matchups during the season. I've seen enough of this years version that has me motivated enough to actually play it all year again which didn't happen over the past two years once the hype died down.
Oh Yeah and when will we finally hear the best voices in the business Doug Collins and Kevin Harlan do a video basketball game together for once. They should be the 2nd commentary team in this game if not the 1st since Kerr is no longer doing it and I want a change of pace to Albert for once.
Nah, Live 09 played so much better out of the box than 2k9. Sliders tweaks were barely needed other than minor tweaks to adjust for player skill. Live 09 had awesome defensive rotations...check out czar's video about the defenses. People can cry about the animations and look of the game, but you can't argue that the gameplay in terms of AI playcalling and defense wasn't the best there is. This coming from a guy that played both games EXTENSIVELY
Honestly, I've seen dudes on here complain about alot of stuff over the weeks and ended up getting every last one of their complaints shut down.
This game may not be for everyone, but sure will be for me as a fan of the game. They've put so much work into this game i'd be cheating myself being a game company fanboy and ignoring what each game brings for my enjoyment.
I see dudes here complaining that said they wouldn't even get the game. Some of you guys are just too old to be playing games, or are just in a rut and won't enjoy anything no matter what happens....That doesn't even include the guys who have EA agendas in here, those im going to be on you for your trolling be sure about that.
Anyhow, if a guy like biglami who wont hold back his discontent with garbage likes what he saw, and a guy like Sage who hated EA likes the improvements then there are some things done right.
I have a feeling the AI will be the real deal this year in the battles it gives you game to game. Can't wait to play
i'm 24, i dont believe thats too old to be playing games. I also enjoyed The Show, enjoyed NCAA 10, thought Madden was boring (although its technically a good game just doesnt have much replay or fun factor), and in the past ive really enjoyed the NBA 2k game. If anything ive usually leaned towards the EA games except now baseball there is no EA game and the Show is head and shoulders above the rest. I was always a Live player until i tried out 2k one year and realized that it was much better than Live.
I dont come here to troll. I come here to get more info on the new Live game and see if its worth getting this year. Just because someone has something negative to say doesnt mean they have an agenda or are a 2k fanboy or an EA *****. Just like you can display your pleasure with the game, people have the right to display their dislike with how the game looks.
I havent seen 2k gameplay vids so right now my decision still isnt made on which game to get which is why i go to both threads to get the info to help make a decision. But from what i saw in the Live gameplay, if 2k is even a little bit improved on last year then i think i'm going to have to give it the nod again. I dont care what the brand is, i just want to buy the best game.
If you enjoy Live and love it and want to get it then good for you, i'm happy that you'll be able to play a game you enjoy. I dont understand why people always turn it into a brand vs brand battle. Some people are just honestly looking for the best game and theres different strokes for different folks.
The game still looks unrealistic and cartoony.
I can't say how much improved Live is this year - I only rented Live'09 and was quickly disappointed so I didn't play it much.
But to me it looks like the same unrealistic game - at least compared to 2K. I think it's something to do with the player models. The way they're built looks too cartoony. This is not KG, Lebron or Rasheed! If they didn't have numbers and names, looking from the broadcast cam, you wouldn't recognize them.
Or maybe one can try to believe that the game looks great, especially after all the hype. But when I see this vid and then a vid of 2K9 (not 10), 2K's game still looks more real.
Maybe Live'10 will have great gameplay, but what I see so far doesn't make me want to play the game cause 2K still looks (and probably plays) much more close to the real thing.
when i first watched the video i thought to myself that Lebron looks too thick. He doesnt look athletic enough. The closeup replay style shots may look nice but the gameplay shots of him, he looks too stocky. But i also thought he looked too thin in NBA 2k9. There needs to be a happy medium because he's not thick, not thin, he's built and muscular.
I nominate Walt 'Clyde' Frazier (NY Knicks Radio) for commentary. That guy has more funny phrases and is pretty insightful...the King of Cool
hell no, Frazier is so annoying to listen to. His catch phrases are so corny and overdone. Him and John Sterling are 2 of the most annoying people to listen to do a game. Sterling doing the Yankees is terrible, worst radio guy ever. You have no idea what the score or inning is if you turn it on since he only gives that info at the end or beginning of the inning. Frazier is just so annoying to listen to. They both have their corny catch phrases.

I will quit before allowing Collins and Harlan to be in LIVE.
Marv is still the best PBP in the biz, with Breen coming in second. Kerr was my fav color guy in his day, although I'm liking Van Gundy lately.
Collins seems to fall in love with certain players states the obvious constantly. Harlan is all show.
That said, this kind of thing is all opinion.
yea but Kerr isn't a color guy anymore since he's with the Suns organization so why would you still have him in the game doing commentary? That really doesnt make much sense to me.

That's the biggest thing that stands out this year. The majority of the complaints are nitpicks.
Remember back to any previous year and we were all discussing major flaws. I can't see any of that this year.
Can't wait for this to drop.
Agreed. Basically, that's the point of my nitpicking rant on the Garnett movement and the pass reception animation.
They are nitpicks that don't necessarily affect the enjoyment of the game. When those things are my complaint, things are going good for the game.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Heh, I'm the opposite. I think 2k needs to improve A LOT (and even that is an understatement) for me to consider it again. And that's not even taking into consideration all the improvements Live 10 is looking to deliver.
Going by this video alone, I can't wait to play the demo.
Yeah I think I'm gonna take a break from this site to much nonsense, and i don't see it getting better when both of these games drop watch out for my live and 2k10 highlight mix.

If it doesnt apply to you dont get offended. This isnt about talking being negative...but the ones who im talking to know exactly who they are.
My money goes on whatever I want so I could give a rats behind about the likes and dislikes of some of these people and that goes for both games.
..but lets keep it all in perspective and give the devs the things that are really wrong instead of crying for weeks about parallel projection of feet and too backboard layups.
