Why do people say that Live is unrealistic or arcade-ish?

I just don't see it. I have played the hell out of the demo and nothing jumps out to me as being arcade-like or unrealistic.

Live has the most realistic player movement I have ever seen in a basketball game. The new dribbling mechanic is awesome (even though I haven't done everything yet), dunks don't look over the top either.

If someone could point out to me where Live fails to produce a realistic sim, please show/tell me. I'd appreciate it.

cuz the people are either too used to playin 2k for the last 4 years or they have a low basketball IQ.

I think it's scary how realistic this game is. And some people who played 2k for a while are now in denial period.

Because of graphics and animations. Also a few OMG glitches.

I liked the 'sim' flow of 09, too, and 10 seemed to take a lot from 2k. I'm kind of scared to see if it will be really bad online, though... 2k always was sim vs the computer (or was when I played it up until 2k8... 2k9 I only played on PC.) But the question is will they still have the same balance between offense and defense while tightening up a few things.

I know they fixed the offensive player's ability to run in circles. That's good.

Bottom line, for me simulation is created by the players. it's not predetermined. Simulation is the ability to succeed by using real basketball knowledge. I've never had any problem w/ that in 09 (cept for people who abused 'goto' moves.)

10 seems to me like the Live engine refined as well as an implementation of some of 2k's finer points. That's why I am very surprised that people who like 2k still hate 10 (albeit it does play differently, so you do need time to get used to it...) because it plays a lot like a 2k game. They even switched up the controls...

what worries me is the dunking/layup animations.. its like ultra quick and it seems once you go into that motion its unblockable (almost)

someone said the insane quickness in the moves will be patched or something. hopefully so.

also the collison in the paint will get old fast probably.. but it kinda stops cheese as well so... its a give n take

What I dont get is why the biggest "It wont get better unless we are constructive" people have suddenly become so accepting lol There is only a select few who can take a honest look at the game and point out things that can be improved...im bothered by certain things no matter what game it happens in...of course this game has arcade moments like all other games....but i dont know how long live will "be back" if we dont start being OS again lol

I don't think it's the quickness of the layup/dunk animations that makes them unblockable...it's the weakness of the defensive control and lack of proper collision (in air) that makes these moves unblockable. when a player goes up for a dunk, if you attempt block him and jump "into" his body, there will be no collision - your defender will just magically bounce off of the dunker like he's protected by a force field. Once they improve the shot blocking system and implement realistic mid-air collisions, that will solve the problem.

Play the demo and go into the hangar then get close to the hoop or jog up to it with Carmelo Or Lebron and press the dunk/shoot button, they dunk the ball like they ran from the other end.

If you "jog" up to the hoop, they will do a layup. Next!

It's funny you should say that.....

I used to be a guy who kept my mouth shut about the flaws in NBA Live.

Now days it seems that those same guys who bashed the series are willing to accept aspects of the game that dating back to Live 06 still haven't changed or been improved IMO.

I understand there are new guys working on the game but it seems like everyone is down with the lets waite til next year approach to get it finally right......well for me I was never a 2K guy so the waite til next year approach for me is kinda getting old. I've heard that stuff for the last 5 years now and that's why i'm being more vocal than i ever was before in regards to the series.

maybe ea will work twice as hard on live 11 with posts like these
