NBA Live 2000 - Michael Jordan Returns

    http://www.cnn.com/TECH/computing/99....live.n64.idg/

I made this thread to address the great debacle: If in 2000 when Jordan was still retired, EA somehow got his likeness, how and why can't they do it again? He's in the HALL OF FAME now. No excuse.

I ask because if you want to double or triple your sales, put the greatest athlete of all time in your game. Not only do you beat out your competition but you have a guaranteed sale for any basketball fan or video game fan.

What is the deal with alluding this question all together? Many have asked on many a forum but we never receive a response.

I know producers talk to us so I wish we can get an answer once and for all.

EA has LOTS of money, sign Jordan and reign supreme. We all want him, and get Barkley and the rest as well.

    NBA Live 11? Please?

    Please?
in the ryan santos interview i posted, he said hes too expensive.
besides, steve kerr costs 14 million.

all kidding aside, i think thats the main reason.
he probably wants ungodly amounts of green.

his price went up i guess.

besides, what would he do in the game? be added to free agency?

Imagine playing one on one vs Michael Jordan in todays basketball games as opposed to in 2000. MJ will be all sig'd up and unstoppable. I love the idea. Hopefully this Hall of Fame induction makes him more afforable. But Jordan was never one to let affiliation alter his wants. As he just didn't sign with the Players Association to keep him the lead profiter off of himself. Smart move. We shall see, hopefully a dev can shime in.

In NBA Live 10 where we have timing, momentum, locomotion and real defense strategies and stances I'm sure playing MJ would be a true challenge come NBA Live 11 and the defense getting even more realistic.

But no, you cannot stop his fadeaway.

Try and steal the ball all the time. The computer doesn't call many reach-in fouls and you are often successful, even at higher skill levels.

I don't care if he is retired, you'd have to make him the cover athlete. Why developers, WHY!?!?!?

Though I do disagree about Jordan being awesome in todays b-ball games in general, since if he was exclusive to 2k I wouldn't be all that excited. Their perimeter game sucks too much.

That has no bearing on anything.

MJ bought himself out of the NBA player's agreement long ago. He's expensive.

Yep MJ has rights to his own likeness so without his own permission and im sure he can charge whatever he wants... you can forget it

I really don't get why people care so much about having MJ. How exactly would this improve gameplay, presentation, or lasting appeal? People would play one game with him and then just brush it off as it's really not important. Are we forgetting he's just one player? Ask someone how many times he uses the already available legends teams in 2k and that's exactly the amount of times a person will use jordan.Big whoop.

When you think about it, this really reflects poorly on MJ. He doesn't care about anybody being able to play as him in a game, and he would rather get paid nothing than lower his price.

                      Lame.

Its not like he's the only athlete to do that, remember Jon Dowd aka Barry Bonds. Who can blame him, his name alone is worth millions. Hell if I had to give my ex-wife a $168 million divorce settlement, I would do the same thing.

Its MJ plain and simple. Who wouldn't want to play as the G.O.A.T. But if EA can't get his licence than oh well. Having MJ or other legends is not important but it would be a cool thing to have.

You cannot be serious! did you watch basketball in the 90s? Mj was the most emulated and idolized human on EARTH. everyone dreamed to play like him.

Have you played historic roster patches on PC? it's easily the most addictive thing you can ask for in a basketball game. nostalagic.

it's better than playing with current NBA rosters which are filled with showboating ball hogs who have one talent in dunking. only one player with an all around superstar game and that is Kobe.. everyone else is meh.

compare that to HALL OF FAMERS of the 90s late 80s? it's not even funny to say people would play with Jordan once.

I'm STILL playing 2k9 Jordan rosters on pc.

                          clearly you haven't tried it.

and in regards to buying his likeness out. since he did it a while back does the hall of fame induction counter it? as in you're using the hall of fame players instead of non-hall of fame?

and how much could he possibly want just to appear in a game, we're probably talking less than 10% of NBA live's budget. and how did they get him in 99" for live 2000???????

Jordan is a Brand. His brand is still one of the highest selling brands. Rights to his brand cost BIG BUCKS. It's not worth it to a video game company to invest that much money in one player, whether playing or retired.
