How the HELL do you hit a jumper in this game!

I've played with all kinds of teams and I just can't figure out when, in general, you're supposed to release the ball. I know there's some variation with the sig shots but are you supposed to wait for the highest point of the jump and if not, then when the hell do you shoot. I can't buy a bucket half the time.

I'm using L4D's sliders, (on all-star mode tho), if that helps.

I've been having trouble shooting with l4d's sliders as well (PRO). Before the sliders I was atleast an average shooter.

There's been a lot of talk on this, look for the thread titled "way too many missed open jumpers". Basically you have to hold the shot button down for a long time, almost so the player's feet are back on the ground. Plus you should see a semi-awkward hitch in you're players release.

It's very hard to get used to if you're coming from 2K.

Yup, hold the shoot button longer than normal. It's not like real basketball where you'd want to release at the peak of your jump. For some reason, you have to release on the way coming down.

that's odd, every time i hold the shoot button down until the hitch, i miss...but if i release it quickly, it goes in...i've tried with pierce, allen, garnett, bryant, and james....

maybe the timing on these players are easier...i can hit 90% 3's with ray allen..

so in order for me to make a basket, it's almost like i'm doing a set shot...if i wait for the peak, i miss, if i wait for the hitch, i miss, if i wait until they are almost back down to the floor, i miss....

this is on allstar with no slider adjustments...on ps3...dynamic rosters...

Same here man. Seems like since the game is sped up post patch, now I have to shoot quicker too

I've had more success doing that with guys like Eric Gordon, Ray Allen...JR Smith sometimes, Melo

huh. I've been holding it slightly longer towards the top of the release and that has been fine.

4/5 from 3 with michael redd, my last game out.

I dont have a problem with anyone except Gilbert Arenas. I cant hit anything with him for some reason.

You and me both... I was playing that Mavs game on default All-Star and went 0/18 with him before finally hitting a short jumper. Seems like I started making them more when I released really fast, but "more" was still like 4/12 haha.. Meanwhile, I nailed 4/5 from deep with Randy Foye... so weird.

LOL!!! Randy Foye did the same for me. I got 28 with Foye, some from downtown, some from mid range and 4 or 5 free throws. Agent 0.....not so much.
