    Why doesn't EA just build off NBA LIVE 10? THEY CAN'T.

    As like most of you who have been following this LIVE/ELITE debacle for almost 3 years I ask myself, why didn't EA just return to the solid core they had from LIVE 10.
    I've never heard an answer that made any sense. I just assumed it was due to the arrogance of the label in their insistence to redefine what simulation basketball was. This evening that view was altered when I watched a video made by YouTube video commentator and NBA 2k Team UP member, Shakedown 2012. Accompanying him in the commentary was Prime76, another YouTube commentator who focuses on NBA Live titles (his favorite being LIVE 10). The video below is part 2 of a dual commentary they did concerning the direction of NBA LIVE.

    MY OPINION, this video is unfiltered truth.

    THEY CAN'T IMPLEMENT MIKE WANGS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, TALENT, TECHNOLOGY SINCE HE'S NO LONGER EMPLOYED BY EA.

    I like how Prime CLEARLY differentiates between an EA fan and an EA fan with commonsense.

      To be honest, I would buy Live if it has 2010 gameplay and 2012 rosters and game modes like myplayer and a deep Dynasty mode.

              If they build off 2010 its not too much. EA is good at polishing game modes and I think if they did 2011 like 2010 + game modes and gameplay tweaks, it would succeed.

                                  Just wondering if anybody can touch on what happens usually in situations like Wangs with EA. I thought companies as big as Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc...owned the technology, ideas, and patents developed by their employees.
                                  How was Wang able to hold on to his intellectual property (game engine) after leaving EA? This is not a common occurrence.

                                      Kingeo19, who knows. Everything in that video is hearsay. I wouldn't put too much stock into what this dude's friends who used to work at EA or whatever say. Remember, there's 3 sides to every story, yours, mine, and what really happened.

                                      And all this talk about Mike Wang, he's cool and all and seems like a nice guy, but he's not some basketball God that is irreplaceable. He's just a dude who seems to know basketball. I'm 100% positive EA can and has put together a team of people who know basketball. They don't need to build off Live 10 they can invent a new brand and build off that.

                                          He has ideas, he does not own a game engine. You can't patent basketball so the difference of the engines is the implementation of basketball. Different engines will implement different ideas differently and its limitation will dictate how bad or good the implementation of a certain idea is.

                                                  it was revealed that live 10 engine was scrapped after mike wang left because he still had rights to the engine as its leading creator, so ea scrapped the entire engine and started over with the elite engine, in which was already there focus or goal to make a RTP engine, i forgot what article i read that stated that, but i know you can hear some of the same info here:

                                                          Not criticizing you one way or another, but the expectations between the 2 titles is out of balance.
