Re: Nba live 18 review
"The*NBA Live 18*franchise mode is poor. In fact, it’s probably the worst mode in the game."
Good read from both of the reviews. But the quote above has pretty much sealed the deal for me. Very, very disappointed with this news. I guess that's why we haven't heard anything from EA about franchise mode. It still might be a good pickup when the Black Friday sales come rolling out.

Re: Nba live 18 review
Franchise is VERY Madden CFM like, from menus to features but lacks editing. Why would a biased 2k reviewer like it when it's not like 2k? The tone of that review is condescending and comes of as negative with a few positives, which is the half empty approach.

Re: Nba live 18 review
There won't be many glowing reviews of Lives franchise mode...and it's not because they all have an agenda, its because the industry standard has been set in many ways. Reviewers arent going to have the 'Take anything they give me' attitude some fans have...and I'm glad....
This will push the Live team to improve....

Re: Nba live 18 review
I posted some screenshots from my sim run through franchise modes earlier in the Impressions thread. I saw the same things Pastapadre did. (Calling him a 2K shill is pretty ridiculous too. He's about as honest a reviewer as you are going to find)
I posted the season standings, stats and the transactions for the sim I did. No trades, no injuries, no contesting the signing of free agents (I put in 1 lowish bid for Porzingis and got him on the first try), odd teams high in the standings (76ers were a top 4 team in both sims I ran) and the playoffs seemed to be a coin flip. The final was Warriors v Hornets with the Warriors taking it in 7.
I like the gameplay of Live quite a bit. It was actually fun to play, which I cant always say about 2K. Franchise mode though is what I mainly play on any sports game, so for it to be as fundamentally broken as it is, is a deal breaker for me, even at $35.Comment

Re: Nba live 18 review
The same can be said about all EA sports games. The fans are not stupid and it's getting redundant that franchise mode is neglected year after year... Whether it's Madden, FIFA, NHL, UFC, ect...Same problem, different titles. What's EA's beef with franchise mode?

“Why will the name Alan Hinners mean something to those playing Franchise mode? Hinners is a fake player inexplicably made available in free agency at the start of the first season with an All-Star caliber rating of 90 Overall. Starting at point guard, Hinners is rated as the sixth-best player at the position in the game. The Mavericks always sign him, and he goes on to win Rookie of the Year 100 percent of the time by averaging around 25 points and 12 assists. This oversight will need to be patched given that there is no way to prevent the CPU Mavericks from signing him.”
On top of there being no trades and no injuries. The simulation engine is all out of whack, and you sim week by week, not day by day.
This has NOTHING to do with 2K and all to do with this franchise mode being one of the worst ever in a basketball game. Period.

Re: Nba live 18 review
It's going to be okay but goodness y'all got to wipe the fog from the goggles. They put out a half baked game and review wise will pay for it.
Franchiseplay is one of the reviewers and a cool dude. One of the few I actually get entrainment from. Dude plays everything.
You haven't been here long if you question pastapadre, dude has done a ton for the community and is up there with the likes of daczar around the forums.
It won't make a dent but I cancelled my preorder today. I have no interest in the Sims type stuff that is taking over sports games. Not a knock on people that enjoy it but I have nothing to sink my teeth in. Play now will only last so long before the honeymoon period is over.
Think both reviews were fair with their write ups.
Ea give us a nugget of info. A somewhat breakdown of the plans for the game in the coming months. What's realistic to get fixed or patched in. Game comes out in 3 days for everyone and they give us nothing.
Let the community find out there was no editing and franchise is a mess. What happen to the ea guys that was around?

Re: Nba live 18 review
I had no expectations on franchise mode to be honest. It was clear to me in the Demo....this game is all about “The One” and that is what I am purchasing it for.
2K18....Franchise mode rules. And it is a hell of a basketball game to boot.
Live will be fun. But it has a very very long way to go in terms of franchise mode...and by the looks of it....it will never hold candle to 2K’s MyGm and My League modes. Those are lights out fantastic. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Nba live 18 review
i have read franchiseplays review (not padre's yet)
however i think as a basketball community we gotta understand some folks will be unhappy with a game youre excited for. doesnt make either party right or wrong. its all subjective.
that being said i COMPLETELY understand where franchiseplay is coming from. i respect it. the mode does seem to be extremely stripped down.
personally i really enjoy the "player locked" modes and Live18 has put alot of focus on the The One mode. with what ive seen from the demo i cant wait for friday!
but it would be extremely stupid and closed minded of me to think everyone should feel the same. i appreciate all the criticism of Live as hopefully it leads to a more complete NBA experience for those who value that more than anything else when purchasing a basketball game.
criticism cant hurt, only improve things. at least imo..
love the game, cant wait til friday
