Re: Official Boston Celtics Thread

My dream scenario has DeMarcus Cousins somehow ending up a Celtic.

Probably not now. We would need to work out a trade for him but we would have to give up 2-3 current players and/or draft picks to get him. His salary is $18.8 million for 1 more season.

There's still some decent choices available for a big man. The problem if we wait much longer then that $9 million exception we created with the sign & trade for Kemba is going to be useless for that big man. The players available for that type of money are going to end up being few & far between.

If we created this $9 million exception to sign a PF/C & don't end up getting a player for the caliber of money then it's pretty much wasted. Danny could be going to use that $9 million to sign 2 players for the exception instead because we can go over the $9 million exception by a little as long as it's not over the amount set by the NBA.

That would gut most of our roster basically though to get him because whoever he signs with it's going to be big money. A trade for him down the road would cost us Tatum & Brown both plus probably Smart or Hayward & at least 1-2 filler players or draft picks as well.

Official Boston Celtics Thread

Willie Cauley-Stein is now an unrestricted free agent. Potential target for the C’s.

Also hearing some buzz surrounding a big out of France named Vincent Poirier.

We have agreed to sign Enes Kanter:

2:40 p.m. ET: Free agent center Enes Kanter's new deal with the Boston Celtics pays $4.8 million the first season and $5.0 million the second season, a source told ESPN's The Undefeated.

Re: Official Boston Celtics Thread

Robin Lopez has agreed to sign with his brother's team (Milwaukee Bucks). I thought before we agreed on terms with Kanter that Robin Lopez might be a possibility for us.

I believe this will be only the 2nd time in NBA history that twin brothers have played on the same NBA team. The others are also current players in Marcus & Markieff Morris.

I love the Kanter pick up myself. He might struggle some in the pick & roll on defense but what he brings with rebounding & some offensive skills should really help us on the inside. He's not athletic but athletic enough & especially tall enough to grab rebounds & at least detour some shots on the inside. He's also dependable up to 12-15 feet out.

And, he's dependable as far as being on the court & staying pretty healthy as well. After what big men had already been gobbled up in my opinion Kanter was the most definite best option that was still left for that exception level money we had available.

Woj & Zack Lowe from ESPN both have stated they think the agreements with Kembs & Kanter should make the Celtics an upper echelon team in the East. They both said if Kawhi ends up somewhere other than the Raptors then they see the Celtics & 76ers being the best teams in the East. I would have to agree with them but if Kawhi comes back to the Raptors that would slide us down a spot to no lower than 3rd.

Re: Official Boston Celtics Thread

Celtics not done dealing yet, per Steve Bulpett

https://www.bostonherald.com/2019/07...aking-changes/

What the means, I don’t know. Steve is generally pretty well connected when it comes to the Celtics. Guess we will wait and see what, if anything happens.
