He was expected to be back sometime between October 15-November 15.

Re: The 2014 New York Knicks: It Ain't Gettin' Easier

Chris "JR Jr." Smith is going to make the roster because of the handshake agreement JR signed two years ago. The 2-year deal with the Player Option for the 2nd year and then he went out and won 6th Man Of the Year and signed a big deal this summer.

When they brought Chris in, his contract stipulated that he'll get $429K if he's on the roster as of October 29th.

I never really disliked Dolan like most of the real Knick fans out there, but this has me incensed. Throw Woody in there too.

I have no problems with Toure Murry and Jeremy Tyler making the team. They both earned it, albeit Tyler was only in the summer league.

But Chris Smith?

Ever since I saw JR Smith out golfing with Dolan a few summers back, I knew we were in trouble.

This guy has been nothing but trouble but we keep handcuffing ourselves to him. I don't care if he can put up 18 PPG. I think Hardaway has a much more consistent outside shot and can develop into a capable 6th man in time.

JR is nothing but trouble and we are stuck with him. Major logjam in the backcourt and stubborn Woody is not going to give Hardaway/Shumpert the minutes they need because he doesn't trust young players.

I expect to hear Shump's name in trade rumors for the rest of the year.

Chris Smith, Cole Aldrich and Toure Murry make the team.

CJ Leslie, Jeremy Tyler cut.

This team is beyond a joke.

Guarantee Chris Smith gets cut after Oct. 29 when his check clears.

I don't think any of those guys in the mix for the final roster spots will play much of a role for the team.

Murray and Smith will never play due to our guard depth. Aldrich will play sparingly to give up six fouls. Diogu is just too small for what we need.

But there's no doubting that our organization is a joke for keeping Chris Smith.

Chris Smith over Jeremy Tyler?

What exactly has Smith shown to merit a roster spot other than being JR's Bro? Serious question

Nothing. He's terrible and we don't need another guard that won't get PT.
