    A First Day Reflection

I have played about 4-5 games and this is my impression.

    Likes:
-Ability to use Classic teams on-line (Don't hate me for using the 1996 Wildcats- Bar none my favorite team ever).
    - Graphics overall are pretty good (crowd, mascot, cheerleaders panties)
    - ESPN radio
    - New uniforms
    - It is not a horrible game, but feels very shallow. Kind of like a pre-beta.
    - I love Legends Tournament

    Dislikes:
    - No teams to unlock
    - No All-time teams
    - Lack of names that are available for speech recognition
    - Horrid ratings for players. For example: Mark Pope is an 84, Anthony Epps is a 76. Jodie Meeks is a 77, Perry Stevenson is a 77, Darius Miller is a 77, DeAndre Liggins 72, and Patrick Patterson is an 81. Not sure who put together ratings, but they do not appear to have done research. All but like 2 pUKe players are 77 or higher. Syracuse is ranked #21. hmmmmm.
    - Players are stickish and do not move smoothly
    - Commentary is weak

To be honest, if UK didnt have new uniforms this year I might have created freshmen, graduated seniors, and kept on playing College Hoops 2k8. I would recommend the same to anyone who does not have an issue.

It is kind of weird how this game would have hit the market in its current condition. I know several 1st person shooters, like Bond, borrowed the Call of Duty 4 engine. I am not sure why EA wouldnt somehow couldnt borrow 2K's. The overall gameplay is just that much better.

I really hate 2K for not creating a College Hoops game this year. All I can say is that I PRAY TO GOD that they have one for next season.

I have not played a dynasty yet.

A lot of players are not on their Classic Rosters. They seem to be made up of a lot of fictional players.

1978 Kentucky does not have Kyle Macy.... HUH?

I love how all of the Kentucky fans talk about how badly rated their team is. We'll see if they do good this year. I'm not saying they suck since I don't watch UK basketball, its just they haven't proven anything yet.

Blue Ribbon is doing the ratings this year, it seems like its the first time they have ever done video game ratings because from what I see so far, this could probably go down in history as the game with the worst player ratings ever.

                      Hear me out...

I have CH 2K4-8 and I love the 2K series. My thing is that I bought NCAA BBALL 09 but I haven't opened it because it would be very easy for me to edit the team I use--UNC--for the 09-10 season. They lost Quentin Thomas who could become Larry Drew, Alex Stepheson who could become Ed Davis, and Surry Wood who could become Tyler Zeller; all easy edits to make by changing appearances and bumping up some attributes here and there. So what would you guys do--open the new game or spend 30 minutes editing your team to reflect the current season?

Honestly man, its your money do as you wish. But let me say this, NCAA '09 is not near as bad as people are making it out to be, not even close. The gameplay is great and the dynasty mode is solid.

If ratings bug you that much, alter them. You can edit any current player and can set the rating to however you see fit, you are no longer limited.

But you do as you see fit. I'm not going to tell someone how to spend their hard earned money.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Thanks country boy. You are among the few who actually post respectfully. But you're right--people are making this game out to be awful since some wear the "2K colored lenses." It's just that for UNC fans, it would be REALLY easy to edit 2K8 rosters for this year since we only lost 3 people. I'll await more feedback and open the game when I get a free chance--may not be until Friday.

Not trying to tell you what do, but to offer advice. If I was in your shoes I would return NCAA '09 and wait to rent it first. You obviously like 2k8 quite a bit, so I would do that instead of opening the game and not liking it at all or preferring 2k over it and feeling as though you've wasted $60.

But again, its your money man. Just offering up some free advice.

Your best bet for getting College Hoops 2K back in the mix is if EA buys Take-Two. They've been trying for awhile to no avail. If they did that, they could just build right off of what they had and hopefully bring in that crew again.

Unfortunately, buying Take-Two also means you will probably see great games like the GTA series get destroyed.
