Re: Is anyone still playing NCAA 10?
Thanks. It's mostly gameplay-related. My one non-gameplay question is, is it not possible to change a player's position during your dynasty? Not a fan of that. If I recruit a 6'7 center, I'd like to be able to officially move him to PF or SF. Or if I recruit a SG under 6'5, I'd much rather him play PG as his alternate position than SF. I'm aware if you've playing every game, you can get around this with manual subs, but for simulated games you can't.
As far as gameplay, what are just some general tips? I haven't played a college basketball game in probably 17 or 18 years. I'm used to 2K, and it's SO different. I picked this up because I got the itch from March Madness this year. One issue I have is controls. Some of them are a little weird and not very intuitive. For example, back down is R3? Wtf? Why not make it a shoulder button? Same with boxing out, which apparently isn't even possible to do manually. Same with pro-hop. The Triangle/Y button isn't even used on offense, so why not make that pro-hop like the old Live games? Also a lot of stuff is apparently hidden. There's things you can do that aren't listed at all in the controls menu, which is not cool. Idk how they expect you to find them out or why they thought that would be a good idea.
Some other questions and observations:
-What is considered the best defense? I've heard people say 2-3, but I'm not sure. What I don't like about zone is that it seems to prevent you from calling double teams, which is incredibly stupid.
-Turnovers are out of control. The CPU steals everything. The turbo button is a death sentence. It either results in a charge, a turnover, or falling.
-CPU offensive rebounds and putbacks are insane. Literally, if the CPU gets the offensive rebound, I've noticed that there's like a 95% chance they will score on the second effort.
-There's too many shooting fouls, even when I set the sliders to 0. Also the CPU will make constant circus And 1's ALL the time.
-How do I get more productivity out of my frontcourt? When I play, I feel like 90% of my offense comes from my guards and SF. My big men do nothing but stand around (many times on the perimeter, even though they can't shoot) and rebound. I'd like to develop some semblance of a post game.
-Pick and rolls suck. Literally the majority of the time I call for a screen, I either get called for a "moving screen", OR the screen makes 0 difference and the defender just follows me no problem like the screener wasn't even there. No fighting through it whatsoever.
-Any "money plays" for offense (or defense?), for when you feel like you're getting screwed (which will happen)?
That's about all I can think of for now, but I know there's more. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm playing on All-Conference btw.Last edited by Landonio; 04-04-2021, 06:16 PM.All you gotta do is look up in dat tree.Comment

Which to run depends on your team and opponent. First thing I’d say is definitely recruit to how you wanna play. The game’s players are more diverse than today’s real life guys. In the game the players aren’t as well rounded, so your bigs won’t make 3s, etc. I mix in zone because I’m a bad defender and the AI opponent doesn’t shoot a lot of 3s. But definitely change the individual settings to close defense on good shooters or they’ll kill you. Also don’t try to block shots on drives, you’ll get called a lot. Do block shots on the wings.
Offensively, many of the offenses are motion based,?so you’ll get a lot of the same shots repeatedly. You’ll have to run your pattern a couple times against good defenses. Bigs can’t dribble. You’ll get good at knowing which passes to not even try within the offense you pick, but passes will be way more effective than driving if the wrong guy has the ball.
On frontcourt guys, I like to have my shooter on the wing or corner. The 5 will cheat towards him and you can lob it to your big (I run 3 out, 2 in). I also find driving towards the baseline works better with bigs. If you have the right big, if he gets it just inside the foul line usually he can dribble enough to dunk or get fouled.
Money plays: corner 3s with good shooters and driving right down the middle should get you to the line. Biggest thing I can advise is pick a main offense and run it a lot. You’ll learn quickly where your best looks are coming from with in. I totally agree on the screens, btw.
Lemme know if I missed anything!Comment

Re: Is anyone still playing NCAA 10?
Dang. Thanks. I think I'm finally getting the hang of this game. it's pretty fun once you do. I'm still having the issue of fouls being kind of out of control though. Idk why they didn't give them separate sliders for human and CPU. Turnovers are still a problem for me whenever I press turbo inside the arc as well. Even with guards sometimes. I get that ridiculous animation where I lose the ball for no reason. But other than that, I'm starting to figure it out. I'm still sticking to 2-3 zone on defense. It just seems to be the best all around so far. But I might experiment with some other teams and defenses. I appreciate the help though. All you gotta do is look up in dat tree.Comment

Re: Is anyone still playing NCAA 10?
Yeah, the fouls are absolutely insane. I just played a game with shooting fouls set to 62, and the CPU went to the line 40 times. What's worse is about 90-95% of my fouls are not my own doing. It's the CPU-controlled players on my team. And it's almost always the big men. Almost every game I play my frontcourt gets in foul trouble within the first 4-5 minutes of the game. It's infuriating. All you gotta do is look up in dat tree.Comment

The fouls, yeah not much you can do. I think players are kind of rattled individually for it. My starting center gets fouls constantly, his backups less so. Try just moving the stick up to raise arms instead of jumping. Also shots in traffic are tough, so sometimes just standing there in the way will force a miss. Be wary of offensive rebounds though.Comment

Re: Is anyone still playing NCAA 10?
Don't be afraid to mess wit the sliders and adjust them as you get better.
Each game I play it gets more fun as I learn the nuances of the game. But it def can be frustrating esp when coming from 2k.
Best bet if your trying to win is to shoot a lot of 3s through plays or finding areas on the court where cpu overhelps (Usually off corner shooters) and because the cpu doesn't shoot many 3s.
And yea I wouldn't suggest driving till you figure out the dribbles and angles/space/how the game works lol. I must average near the tops in terms of turnovers so it's not jusst youLast edited by UravenzownU; 04-17-2021, 01:03 AM.If your bored...Check the Twitch for NCAA Dynasties, 2K League/MyTeam, FIFA and whatever else

Re: Is anyone still playing NCAA 10?
Oh and if anyone is EDITING ROSTERS keep this in mind.
About players home states
Found this post somehwere else online
Spoilerwhen you enter player home states (by abbreviation) under "edit player", they don't correspond to the correct state when looking at the "current players from..." in dynasty recruiting. they programmers didn't make the abbreviations ("edit player") match up the alphabetical states ("dynasty recruiting"). they just matched up the straight alphabetical lists. so, alabama = ak, alaska = al, arizona = ar. meaning, if your player is from wisconsin, you need their state abbreviation to be "WA" (washington). this is the whole list:
alabama ak
alaska al
arizona ar
arkansas az
california ca
colorado can
connecticut co
delaware ct
