All IO stands for is Input/Output, so basically all your USB ports are IO

Is there anyway to get these rosters with a Mac? I have the transfer kit, haven't tried it yet but from my understanding you need a PC.

I had the same problem. I see you noticed windows didn't recognize the device. That should have been my first clue...that, and I didn't have the green "led" in xchange.
Anyway, click on that balloon that pops up saying not recognized and find the driver yourself on the install cd. I think it's in root directory and is called "x360mu".
Now I get the green led and "to mem" is not ghosted out anymore.
