Toledo notes for roster guys

I figured it would be easier to post them hear rather than repeat the same thing in 10 different threads. i also wanted to wait until after toledo's first game to see what the rotations looked like. was in ames for the game, it was one heck of a thing even though we had to drive home with a loss. i have nothing but nice things to say about their fans. Anyway:

- WR Nick Moore is now wearing #1

- LT Sean Zabinski has been moved to RT to back up Greg Luna.

- FS Barry Church needs to be moved to SS and changed to #8. The kid is a PLAYER. First ever collegiate game last night and had 9.5 tackes a forced fumble against Iowa State. A little rough in pass coverage though.

- RG Tyree Pollard has been moved back to DT and is in the 2 deep rotation.

- QB John Goolsby is no longer on the team. Now playing for Jolliet CC I believe.

- I honestly have no clue about FB Scooter McDougal. He isn't on the team at the moment due to academic troubles, but word is he finished some coursework and has pettioned the NCAA for reinstatement.

- RT Jerry Aguwa suffered a leg injury before the season and is out. Greg Luna is his replacement.

Some players that may need a wee bit of a ratings boost:

- QB Clint Cochran. Played freaking lights out against Iowa State. In only he second career start he went off for 39/49 for 367 yards and 3 scores. Also had a rushing TD but that was only a reach in from the 1. Threw a pick but it was a meaningless before halftime play.

- TE Chris Hopkins. I thought he was way underrated in the game to begin with since he was second team all MAC last season, then he showed up and snagged 13 catches for 139 yards and 3 scores.

- Here is a good one for you. Toledo is incorperating a sort of "punt option" this season. Backup QB Brandon Summers will go in as the punter and have the option to kick, run, or throw. Here is the good part, the kid actually has a leg. He punted twice last night for a 43.5 yard average with a long of 48.

Some players that need to be created:

- Senior WR DJ Nichols. He was in NCAA 2006 but seems to have been overlooked this year. He is one of our starters though. Had only 5 catches last night, but each one seemed to be right when we needed it.

- True freshman ILB Archie Donald. Played in his first game last night and had 3 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.

- True freshman CB Greg Harris. Currently on the 2 deep at corner and had 1 tackle last night.

- True freshman ILB Derrick Summers. Brother of QB Brandon. Played last night and had 1 tackle.

- True Freshman DE Skylaar Constant. Played last night and had .5 tackles.

http://utrockets.cstv.com/sports/m-f...skylaar00.html

- True freshman LT Jan Gewont. Currently backing up John Greco.

http://utrockets.cstv.com/sports/m-f...ont_jan00.html

- True freshman RG Jared Dewalt. Currently backing up Jesse Anderson.

http://utrockets.cstv.com/sports/m-f...t_jared00.html

- True Freshman DE Douglas Westbrook. Currently backing up Bernard Faithful.

- RS Freshman LG Sam Azner. Currently backing up David Perkins.

http://utrockets.cstv.com/sports/m-f...ner_sam00.html

- True Freshman PK Alex Steigerwald. He's doing our PAT stuff.

- True Freshman QB Aaron Opelt. You think Gradkowski and Cochran were good? Wait till you see this kid in a few years.

http://utrockets.cstv.com/sports/m-f...t_aaron00.html

- If there is room left, True Freshman RB Dontae Jones. Will more than likely redshirt this year but will be the feature back in 2 years.

That was a tough loss last night. I was rooting for you guys. I like your coach. I wish he would have come to Missouri with Pinkel. You could of kept the rest of his staff though

Re: Toledo notes for roster guys

if it makes you feel any better, brad smith followed pinkel out there. he was a toledo recruit at first.

then again, i think we did alright with the kid we brought in instead.

i would post a depth chart, but it would be meaningless at this point. by the time kansas comes calling a lot of injured players will be back in the rotation and the whole thing is going to shift.

for more information and actual pics of the incoming freshman, go here:

http://toledorockets.com/football.htm

there was a cool story floating around during recruiting time that greg harris made a name for himself when he chased down FSU's myron rolle from behind after rolle picked off a pass.

Re: Toledo notes for roster guys

update:

RB Scooter McDougal is back with the team. He recieved an eligibility waiver from the NCAA and saw playing time against McNeese State. Sad part is the kid is about 255 and runs a 4.5

If you add him back in, probably just use the same stock stats that were in the game before the edits. He was "FB #10."

Also, I noticed in the post above this I said that Donald and Morrison are starters. Donald and Forrestal are the starters.

Re: Toledo notes for roster guys

Don't forget about WR Sean Williamson? Seems I either had to move him up the depth chart or create him altogether.

Sean Williamson is a DE and already in the game. You may be thinking of Steven Williams, but he is in the game too. WR #88.
