Help can't download roster

First off I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

So I rented NCAA Football 12 from Blockbuster and wanted to download the updated roster with player names (Mustangs84). When I connected to to XBOX Live it said I had to get an EA Game Subscription or something and since I rented the game I went for the 2 day trial. I then went to to teh Team Management-Download/Upload Roster-Download Roster, but it will only let me download from my friends and I can't enter Mustang's name. Any way I can fix this. You need the online pass. Other than that, I have no idea.
