I am now creating 2014 recruits. I think the best way to do it is to first rank all freshman on the default roster by OVR. Next match the OVR to the national rank for all positions for the player found on the composite 247sports.com ranking. Next take advantage of the free trial offers to gain access to scouting reports for the recruits. Use these reports to determine the playing style of the recruit. Find a player on the default roster who plays the same position, has the same OVR as your target OVR, has the same playing style of your recruit and is as close a match as possible in terms of weight, height and class. Once you have your player picked out just copy over all of his ratings. This is the method that I think should be used when we create next year's roster for the game.

At least for the next two classes. Yeah I'm going to put my son in the game. I was really looking forward to see how EA rated him for 2016. Now I'll do it myself.

How did you come up with that Top 25?

Using ESPN's early top 25 predictions, which can be found here

May I ask two questions about the chart? Are the rankings you
use by position or are you using a national ranking that includes
all players at all positions? Did you come up with the OVR ranges
in the chart by studying the recruits generated in dynasty mode?

Its mostly just national ranking, but on some positions (QB) for
example I will grade a little differently sometime. The OVR will
comes close with the generated recruits on dynasty, only difference
with mine is you wont see many diamonds in the rough. I'll post a pic
of a dynasty I uploaded in the editor where it shows the overalls of
the recruits...The highest recruits are 85/84 and most the time those
guys are kickers and punters. Doing these the last couple of years I
have looked backed at previous yrs game to see where certain guys have
came in at.

For the incoming freshman on this roster, I do not agree with using a
table matching ranking to OVR. Each player should be rated individually
rather than on a scale. An overall is nothing but a badly done average of
individual ratings. If you want any help rating some of these incoming freshman,
I'd be happy to help. This is a great project and I look forward to playing
with this roster.

I agree that the table will have its flaws, but at the same time numbers that
have been posted of 40 times and other stats are just as flawed. I've
tried this before somewhat and believe me it just creates fights over this
guy is better then him and so on...Remember this is basically trying to predict
the future with guys who have not played a down yet, there will be some boom and
bust no doubt but I cant predict that.

The recruits are too low/too high...

Simming couple seasons using the method I've done this yr and past yrs is kind of
a happy medium, if you rank them too high - then come their SR season you will be seeing
ALOT of high 90s, do them too low and you are gonna see alot of players cut when the next
set of recruits come in.

Do you improve the others players during the offseason?

Yep, about all the players have 2 pt upgrade to their overall but there are some cases where
we might say well this guy was too high to begin with. Also will give additional pts for guys on
All American list (I use Phil Steele's) as well as checking stats on cfbstats.com

Guys are too slow...

Still tinkering around things with speed, I do think the game plays better at a
slower speed but, I also did it for dynasty purposes as progression from yr to yr they
will gain more speed. Still if you feel a guy is too low, just post it and we will check it out...

--------------------------------------

Again, none of this work is mine, I have just collected it over the years and used it for myself. I felt the need to share to the OS community again.
So are the juices ranked overall or is that by position?

Re: NCAA 14 Freshmen Rating Scale

I don't put much stock in the 40 times that are reported for high school guys. Or college players, for that matter. They're almost always inflated. We hear all the time about high school guys who allegedly run 4.40 in the 40, and yet somehow years later when they get to the NFL combine they've magically gotten slower.

Look at these numbers: http://www.sbnation.com/college-foot...ard-dash-times

I think you can still use them for relative speed, a guy who claims to run a 4.25 is probably faster than a guy who says he runs a 4.40. But I'd knock about ten points off every guy's reported 40 time.

And that goes for rosters as a whole, almost every player has their speed overrated.

Re: NCAA 14 Freshmen Rating Scale

I was looking at Iowa and the speed of players are off they're OL who run 43? On NCAA when you play Dynasty mode rarely do you see recruits generated below 60 for speed.lt also really needs to be updated with weights, personnel changes and ratings. Rb Wade is now a LB and wears #35. RB Young is rated a 74 but based on the 247 scale on page 203 VTHokie put up on your thread should be a 67 as a freshmen, also he wears #25 now. One of their top recruits should be there instead RB Akinribade. Would recommend replacing the current 3rd string with their top their 2nd highest recruit QB Nate Stanley would be rated 71 as a true freshmen. At WR Falconer and Scheel are rated higher than Mccarran and Smith who are slated to start. At LT Waecheter is supposed to be the back up he's at RG right now. The starting C is supposed to be Daniels but he's at RG instead . The starting RG and back ups are supposed to be Welsh and Render. The back up RT is Ferguson but he's not even in the game. On D ROLB Bower is supposed to be on LOLB. With FS the back up is Gervase but he's not in the game either maybe can put him in by replacing one of the kickers they're are two place kickers and only 68 players. So I figured you haven't got to them yet to make it 69. I have no problem doing the edits but I wanted to go through you guys first before making changes myself. I also edited Northern Illinois I uploaded it to wargasm0528. If you could let me know when you transfer it it would be appreciated.
