Metallicarl's "Who's Number One?" All-time PS3 Roster

UPDATE 4/2/2015 I have just uploaded the final update for this roster!!! All teams/coaches/playbooks have been completed to the best of my research. I have been using Playmakers settings to play CPU vs CPU games with these and love the results. This is a work in progress and everyone is welcome to make corrections or suggestions!!! Hope everyone has as much fun with these as I have playing and creating them!! The second post contains a complete list of all the teams.

PS3 LOCKER: "OldschoolCarl"
TEAMS in RED in the second post are playable

My paypal account is "[email protected]" for anyone that would like to contribute. I've enjoyed downloading free rosters from this site for years, so ONLY if you feel like it.

OK, so here's what I've been working on.... a roster collection of each college's best team from 1966-2006. I have always wanted to be able to play the greats of different era's against each other ever since my dad said the teams of the 70's threw the ball ball too much and would lose to the greats of the 60's. So now who will win?....1972 USC vs. 1995 Nebraska, 2001 Miami vs. 1988 Notre Dame, 1974 Oklahoma vs. 1990 Colorado, 1997 Michigan vs. 1968 Ohio St, etc. Or maybe your favorite team never had a chance to play for a championship and you just want to match them up against the titans, such as 1983 East Carolina, 1996 Marshall, or 1980 Baylor.
In the past, I have just done single year classic rosters because of the difference in speed/size between era's. I would just rate everyone on a curve(ex. in my 1966 roster I would find the strongest player and base everything off of that player). But for this I am using one scale for each rating and all teams will use it. Current teams will be stronger/faster/more explosive but older teams will be quicker/more AWR. I will be using the speed scale off of this site(not sure who gets credit, but awesome job) and I created my own scale for ACC/AGIL. I give credit to Playmakers and TCoaker for creating such awesome gameplay on their rosters and giving me the inspiration that a roter like this will turn out great. So far, I have edited 90% of players info/depthcharts and have started on ratings. Just simulated my first matchup between 2002 LSU and 1979 Alabama and was very impressed with how the teams matched up. As expected LSU dominated on power runs and shutting down inside runs on Def, but had trouble with Bama's OL speed in the option game.
So for now, I'm looking at a month or two of ratings work and testing and then a grand release. I will post a list of every team on the roster and anyone wanting to contribute data/corrections/ or just debate, please feel free to post!!!

Awesome. We need to find somebody to convert this over to the 360 when you're done.

I think there are about 20 I left off, I used my 1966 file as a base so UCF, USF, Texas St., etc are the 1966 HBC (Grambling, Florida A&M). I'm just going to rerate them so they fit. I wish you would add more schools but I know how long it takes per team and I'm still hoping someone will convert it to PS3 when you're done.....I'm dying to get my hands on that NC State team and teach my friends a lesson!!!

Thanks, I appreciate it!!! I'm watching a slugfest between 2004 Auburn and 1988 Notre Dame right now. Auburn up 28-16 at the start of the 4th, Tony Rice has 110 yds rushing and Tony Brooks ripped off a nice 30 yard TD but they cant stop Jason Campbell 24-35 281yds and 2 TD or Ronnie Brown 12-68yds and 2 TD. Most of the teams on the roster are the ones I had on teambuilder but I'm totally rerating the players. I had a theory about SPD/AGIL/ACC I wanted to try and it makes everything more realistic including even more animations. I'm going to post the charts I came up with when I get a chance.

Ok, After telling you how nice you were to do all this work...let me cause some trouble for you...Hopefully not too much.

I noticed that you had 1966 Army on your list. They were certainly a good team but how about replacing them with the truly GREAT 1946 Army team of Blanchard and Davis(Mr. INSIDE and Mr. OUTSIDE) --2 Heisman trophy winners.

I know that meaningful stats are nearly impossible for this old of a team. Still, you might consider falling back on a more subjective approach for this ONE team given how much more successful they were than their 1966 buddies.
