Does RB ABILITY affect speed also?

If you turn down the RB ABILITY slider, does it make your running back slower? I'm having a terrible time because I'm racking up too many yards on the ground, so I'd like to make the RBs a little less effective, BUT, I also don't want to sacrifice his breakaway speed if he does happen to break one.

I've been having the same problem. In my Dynasty with Minnesota, Maroney is averaging around 10 yards a carry. I really don't want to mess with RB ability. I think RB blocking, and Break Block has to be adjusted on the computer side. I still can't figure out the right combination.

Yes, RB ability affects speed, not only of the RB, but any ball carrier including WR and QB and even defensive players when they intercept the ball.

You have to adjust run blocking and break block. Also, you have to be careful with defensive awareness. If that is set too high, the AI has ESP and will run to the ball even before the running back has broke through the line. For example, if awareness is set too high, the opposite side cornerback will break off his coverage and run to an angle of the ball carrier. It gets nearly impossible to break off a huge run because you'll get run down about 20 yards down the field from defenders knowing precise angles.

If you set the Break block for the defense high, and run block low, and keep awareness around 40 to 50%, you can get the defense to play the run very effectively, buty you'll get the occassional run where you still hit the hole and can turn on the jets for a long run.

If you don't mind me asking, what ratio are you using. Thanks

I'm still tinkering, but on Heisman on PS2, I would think that the CPU break block needs to be around 70 and the human run block around 20. These are just assumptions. I too was getting too many yards per carry, so I have to do some extensive testing. See my "slider discussion" thread in regards on how I test sliders in dynasty. I'll post my sliders when I've done enough tests. Any feedback will be welcome.
