Angry whats up with the automatic deep passes???

I am trying to figure out a way that I cant just throw a bomb everytime when I am in trouble and have my WR catch it like 33% of the time???

Is it me or are longballs for BOTh the CPU and HUM are way too easy to complete? this is really annoying me.

Re: whats up with the automatic deep passes???

Ya know, I was miffed about the long ball but I began to notice that almost everytime a long ball is completed on me it's when I've called a Cover 2 zone which is susceptible to the steak/go/fly pattern. After realizing that, I just played better D. Not saying you don't play good D...you know what I mean.

So what D do you think best limits the deep ball?

I play on AA using playmakers classic sliders 9min qtrs, but even on AA default the cpu
hardly ever is successful going deep on me. I DO NOT control my DB's ever.
I only control my MLB and play that position. I also play with the Montana
Grizzlies so I only have a B team. Last night I played Texas A&M and they only
went deep once on me the entire game. I lost the game but it was because
they ran so well.

This works... Make your base Defense Cover 2 Man. You can use the
4-3/nickle/dime/4-2-5/etc. Any man defense where you have your
FS and SS playing deep zones. The cpu will not go deep very often against
this D because everyone deep will be double covered. They will throw
underneath and run more. I rarely come out of my base D ever on 1st down.
Very seldomly on 2nd down. Every now and then on 3rd down.
Try to stop the cpu using your base D on which they simply can't go deep.
Then when you get them in 3rd down pick a different D for that situation.
The CPU will get 'used to' throwing underneath against your base D.
So if its 3rd and 5 you might hit them with a zone, they will not be going
deep because they have been having success throwing short.
I promise if you use a MAN base D with your FS and SS playing deep zones
your long ball worries will be over.
If they are running too good against your base D use a pre-snap audible
and put one or both of your DE's in spy. Bend but don't break works like a
charm on this game. But if you use a zone as a base D, or blitz very often
at all, the CPU will smoke you deep.

If you don't believe me play a test game and ONLY call either 4-3 cover 2 man, nickle cover 2 man, or dime cover 2 man depending on how many
WR's the cpu comes out with.
Do not control your db's, play MLB and play that position only.
Use pre-snap audibles to spy your DE's when you think its a run play.
Use pre-snap audibles to play bump n run sometimes but don't bring your
SS or FS up unless its 3rd and short.
Use-pre snap audibles to crash your D line left/right/middle if you think
its a pass.
You won't have a problem with the deep ball at all...

Give it a try, it works....

I won't say that there's 1 D that works. It's just that you have to not get caught. It's really all a crap shoot because the cpu WILL exploit your mistakes.

Re: whats up with the automatic deep passes???

I do agree with Mood that Cover 2 Man is the best way to defend it. Having man-to-man with 2 safeties over the top works well as bombs into double coverage are much harder to complete. The problem is the CPU often can take advantage of the short game and has a lot of time to throw. I have to blitz now and then just to get to the QB and help on some runs.

Playing a cover 2 zone is good against the short game but leaving an impact receiver 1-1 with a safety is a bad idea in this game.

Yes it is. I normally only bring out the Cover 2 zone when I'm down in the redzone. When I do that, I can really blanket the field.

I'm doing what locke888 from Utopia Football suggests: Set both Aw & Kn to 99.
