It really depends on your type of offense but the general consensus tends to be that 7-9 minute quarters will provide you with the right amount of plays. I currently play on 8 minute quarters with Navy and I am getting about 100 total plays a game. Being Navy, I run the ball way more than I throw it so the clock is almost always running. I also snap the ball with 5 seconds or less on the play clock.

I think 8 or 9 is right. I tried 7 and it just doesn't work this year. I did 8 minutes and usually get 55+ plays. It really depends on who you are playing. I played a grinding game with Auburn against Alabama and Alabama ran 45 plays. I played West Virginia, and even though they ran alot, the scored at will and ran 60 plays.

I think you are right. I've always used 7 minutes but it doesn't seem quite long enough. I'm not sure if I'm going to up it to 8 minutes since the games do take a while to play. They already take me over an hour and this would probably add another 15 minutes to play. Its probably because the game is more realistic and defensive rather than the scorefest on the PS2.

Actually a scorefest takes longer to play. A defensive battle should take less time because the clock tends to keep running, unless its defensive because the QBs can't complete a pass.
