AF won this game last year 55-23 and ran 550+ yards on 60+ carries, but I think I have to look at ratings this year too. SDSU is 74 overall with a 80 defense. AF is a 64 overall with 68 offense and 69 defense. It's certainly a possible outcome taking into account the result of last year's game, but things are just too easy right now without the ability to boost the cpu sliders independent of the human sliders. I may try one more game with these and definitely once the sliders gets patched, I'll come back to these with the hope the cpu can be improved on both sides of the ball.

What about the possibility of turning Home Field Advantage on? that way it makes it more difficult to play on the road.

I am also pretty good at running the ball, even without being a stick jockey. With running I often switch sides for a play and use motion to create mismatches.

I guess what I'm asking is - are there others using these that would usually play on a higher difficulty level and do you think that the CPU puts up enough of a fight on Varsity? Can you lose games when playing an evenly matched team?
Well, I've been playing this NCAA since about 2000, and most of those years, including this year, I've started the game and usually finished on Heismen. However, this year on Varsity the CPU actually calls a good game. That has been a huge concern in the past, but this year they run all the same plays and attack you in a variety of ways. I was able to win on Heismen this year, but the feel of the match ups all felt the same. On Varsity, you know when you have a mismatch, one way or the other. I really like that, as players play more to their real life counterpart...

I've had NO problem with the pass rush for either side. In my Michigan dynasty I just finished the season and Tim Jamison and Brandon Graham each had 10+ sacks. Each game I was constantly getting pressure with those two and Terrance Taylor up the gut. Kates was solid for me (84 ovr) but was a beast against the run (95 strength).

Re: Matt10's Varsity Sliders

Cincinnati - 13
Hawai'i (me) - 42

Passing

Haw - 24-30 80% 295yds 3td
Cin - 17-30 56.6% 169yds 1td

Rushing

Haw - 11att 63yds 5.7ypc 2td
Cin - 23att 93yds 4.0ypc

Rec

Haw - 0 drops
Cin - 3 drops

Def

Haw - 4 sacks
Cin - 3 sacks

Overall the game felt good again. But I have to agree with Mudtiger that it is very hard to find that balance without seperate CPU sliders. This is a great start though. Anythoughts by Matt10 or anyone else is welcome.

Re: Matt10's Varsity Sliders

I forgot to mention to everyone. I have the Knockdown Slider at 100, and that has worked out REALLY well for me. My QB is Feagin, a scrambler with terrible accuracy and OK power. He was around 58% on the year, but then again everyone plays different. This has worked for me, but I don't like to just call money plays, I vary my routes and progressions and like to test the CPU deep. This along with RBA at 45, RBB at 65 and QBA at 45 has been nice. I find that RBB doesn't really help the user's line as much as it helps the CPU line.

May I also suggest everyone try to use Jukeman's run/pass % found in mOOd's sliders section. They really do make the CPU more accurately represented.

TE Phillips 7-57
WR Covington 8-91, 1TD

USF was 1/1 on FG 42 yarder
UVa was 0/2 31 yards and 44 yards

Overall fun game...Peerman couldn't run at all...luckily he got hurt Lalich didnt have an incompletion until the 4th Quarter...AWESOME SLIDERS!!!

2nd Game with these sliders...

Mississippi State 21 - Navy(me) 28 (i did this to see if how my rush stats were)

MSU
off 253
rush 22-48
pass 19-25-205-3TD

QB Carroll 19-25-205, 76%, 3TD, 1INT, sack 5, 6runs-5yds
HB Dixon 12-50, 4.1avg, long 27
FB Hart 4-19
WR Smith 5-57-2TD
WR Bell 3-46-1TD
TE Henderson 4-33

Navy
off 343
rush 52-343-3TD
pass 0-0-0

QB Kaheaku-Enhada 0-0-0, 0% 16rush-168yds 10.5avg, 2TD, long 69
FB Kettani 16-92-1TD 5.7avg, long 15
HB White 15-80-1TD, 5.3avg, long 18
HB Doyle 5-10 2.0avg, long 4

I dobuted the run ability after my first game but this proves you can run...and win good averages (6.6avg for navy as a team)...another fun game. I did try to pass on an option pass and got sacked and considered it a bad omen.

My best lineman is 86 rating, but I have a awful time getting sacks. In 4 games I have 1 user sack, the rest are by cpu-controlled guys. It was the same last year for me. Any tips...

Re: Matt10's Varsity Sliders

I am starting to get concerned that these sliders are not making the game difficult enough for me. I just played Texas as Arkansas and when I had to quit I was already up 17-0 in the first half on the road. They had not even made it past the 50 yard line yet. The real kicker was when I ran a HB off tackle play, then turned straight to the sideline and out ran everyone around the corner and made a 90 degree turn straight up the sideline without ever being touched and ended up with a 73 yard touchdown run. The defense was awful on that play. This is about the fourth game I have played on these sliders, I think I am going to have to try and bump it up to AA. I'll keep you guys updated.
