You must have nailed the sliders, because that sounds just like real life!

Game 3: In Dynasty Mode - UK (me) @ Ole Miss.

What a game. Seriously, instant classic #1 in my archive. No scoring in the first quarter. Defenses were dominant it seemed. Second quarter got going, and I was able to put two drives together, running and passing, leading to two touchdowns. I was up 14-7 at the half. On to the 3rd quarter, Ole Miss ties it up, 14-14. Then, 4th quarter, they score another TD, making it 21-14 Rebels with the lead. I answer with a long drive of my own. Making it 21-21. Ole Miss runs the kickoff back to the 50, and on the ensuing play, they run a HB Toss all the way to the endzone. (3 missed tackles) Rebels 28-21. I get it back with 2:24 left in the game. I run a few tosses, counters, and then I bust out my favorite play, Seattle, hitting my WR on a go route down to the Rebel 1-yd-line. On 3rd down, I push it in with 42 seconds left in the game. 27-28... and I grew a set of testicles and went for 2. HB Toss to the right, FTW!

Except, ensuing kickoff run back to the 20. Rebels manage a 5 play, 79 yard drive down to the 1-yd-line, and kick a FG as time expires. Final score 31-29. I've never felt so happy about losing in my whole life.

Here are the results:

Score: UK 29 - Ole Miss 31
First Downs: 14 / 19
Total Offense: 405 yds / 497 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 30-149-2 / 29-205-2
Comp-Att-TD: 13-23-2 / 21-33-2
Passing Yds: 256 / 292
3rd Dwn Conv: 7-13(53%) / 12-15(80%)
4th Dwn Conv: 2-2(100%) / 0-0(0%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 2-2-0(100%) / 3-2-1(100%)
Turnovers: 1 / 0
Fumbles (Lost): 0(0) / 0(0)
Interceptions: 1 / 0
PR Yards: 9 / 0
KR Yards: 103 / 81
Total Yards: 517 / 578
Punts Avg: 1-34.0 / 1-48.0 (My one punt was a shank out of bounds)
Penalties-Yds: 4-45 / 6-46
TOP: 16:43 / 15:07
TFL: 3 / 11
Sacks: 0 / 0
Pass Deflections: 4 / 3
Field Goals: 0-0 / 1-3
WR Drops: 1 / 0
Pancakes: 1 / 3

Ole Miss RBs had 10 broken tackles.
UK RBs had 4 broken tackles.

Analysis: First of all. Check out the numbers for Ole Miss on 3rd Down. They were 12 of 15 on 3rd Down. Ridiculous!! They kept converting on 3rd and 6, 3rd and 5, 3rd and 4,... 3rd and anything. Sooooo many broken/missed tackles on those plays. I would blitz safeties on some of those plays, and they would hit the guy in the backfield, bounce off, and he would run for the 1st down every time. QB was money on 3rd down as well. On offense, I had to let Randall Cobb abuse the left corner just to stay in the game. Ace Bunch - Seattle, simply kept me in the game. I use "ask coach" for 99% of my play calls.

I was not amused by the lack of pass coverage by my secondary. They were absolutely pathetic. I think a minor tweak may be needed here, maybe pass coverage back up to 40 for both.

Also, my one punt was a shank. And my punter is low 80's... I still think we need to raise punt accuracy to 10.

As for all the miss tackles, maybe a minor increase in USER tackle, from 40 to 45 would be plenty. The CPU tackle slider is P-E-R-F-E-C-T, Perfect!

Loved the CPU rushing game. Great job!

Overall, maybe a little too much offense for me, but we're still working on it.

Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

Game 4: In Dynasty Mode - Auburn @ UK (me).

Another instant classic! But again, waaaay too much offense.

Now, onto the results:

Score: Auburn 39 - UK 35
First Downs: 19 / 15
Total Offense: 499 yds / 395 yds
Rushes-Yds-TD: 25-94-0 / 36-124-1
Comp-Att-TD: 24-31-4 / 14-35-3
Passing Yds: 405 / 269
3rd Dwn Conv: 4-11(36%) / 9-15(60%)
4th Dwn Conv: 0-1(100%) / 0-2(0%)
Red Zone-TD-FG: 4-3-0(75%) / 1-1-0(100%)
Turnovers: 1 / 2
Fumbles (Lost): 1(1) / 0(0)
Interceptions: 0 / 2
PR Yards: 1 / 36
KR Yards: 95 / 117
Total Yards: 595 / 546
Punts Avg: 4-32.8 / 3-30.3 (Five punts total were shanked out of bounds)
Penalties-Yds: 6-34 / 4-44
TOP: 11:59 / 20:01
TFL: 9 / 8
Sacks: 1 / 1
Pass Deflections: 9 / 0
Field Goals: 1-2 / 0-1
WR Drops: 0 / 4
Pancakes: 2 / 1

Auburn RBs had 9 broken tackles.
UK RBs had 3 broken tackles.

Analysis: Obviously, the QB was on fire, but it wasn't really robo-QB. It was just a complete LACK of USER pass coverage. It needs to be increased on both sides I feel. Just a smidge, maybe try 40 for both. May need 45 for the USER.

We also definitely need to address the kicking sliders. I'm to the point where if I'm inside the opponent's 35, I'll always go for it on 4th down. I can't kick field goals with these sliders. And when it's time to punt, I shank every single one. Gives a huge advantage to the other side.

Also, I have now played 4 games with your sliders, and the CPU is yet to have a SINGLE dropped pass. I think we need to drop CPU WR Catch to 50, but obviously leave USER Catch at 55, since we already get plenty of drops.

User and CPU run game feels spot on.

Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

I will be trying these out now, I was using a formula (sliders) from tradition football and I was tired of the QB completing 10 out of every 11 passes. I remember using your formula last year and it was good so I will run these now against ND (I am Michigan St) and report back with stats and feedback.

I am seeing some drops, especially along the sideline. Before you bump up the human pass coverage, lower the AI pass catching. As far as human tackling, I think we should leave it where its at. The AI is getting realistic rushing numbers, if they have a few extra broken tackles, so be it, but the number of fumbles I am seeing right now and the yards per carry are good. WIth the tackling where its at, power backs seem like power backs.

Kicking, its up to you, I'm pretty good at it, so where its at, I make most FG. With a good kicker, its pretty easy, bad kickers will shank some. But like I said, thats up to the player, if you have a real sensitive stick, it could make it tough.

Based on your last couple of games, any changes you make for the AI, you will need to make the same changes for the human most likely. You are playing good teams neck and neck, if you move a slider for only AI at this point, you may tip the balance in your favor.

Pass coverage seems pretty decent to me. Yeah, the coverage can seem neutered at some times, but I was giving up too few passing yards with it at 40. The AI wouldn't go deep as much, but have the same completion % because they dumped it off underneath.

So yeah, at this time the only changes I would recommend you test is AI pass catching at 50 and do whatever you want with the kicking. Thanks for testing, keep posting. Its a little more wide open, but college games should be in the 400 yard range than the 300 yard range.

Re: Fistofrages Heisman Sliders

Alright, just played 2 games. MSU @ USC and Illinois at MSU.

I lost 42-3 at USC. Ouch. Fumbled in the redzone and threw another redzone pick. Not much to say except I hate the USC fight song, they were playing it all day. Barclay was 20-24 and they broke a 94 yard TD with a minute left following my fumble to pad the stats, they outgained me 507 to 265.

I beat Illinois 35-21 in a great game. I took a 20-7 lead into the half and Illinois took a 21-20 lead with 4 minutes left. Keyshawn Martin returned the kick-off for a TD a 2pt conversion made the lead 28-21. Greg Jones forced a fumble at the MSU 40 with 3 minutes left. Larry Caper Broke a 37 yard TD run to ice the game. Overall a great, great game. Caper had 5 broken tackles and 160 yards on 27 carries.

I am now seeing the AI pass completions a little too high so I am moving Human pass defense to 40 and AI catch to 50. May have to drop Human INT to 40 to compensate, but we'll see. Now that the AI has a lethal rushing attack, they will be able to put up points with a little less pass offense.

I think these are almost set. Everyone plays different, but for the most part I think any changes that need to be made from here on out are only going to be 1 tick in either direction and they should be suitable for most Heisman players that want a pretty sim game.
