I've never really messed around with sliders in NCAA like I have with madden and nba. Are they a must for better, more competitive games with the CPU? I don't really know what needs to be fixed and who has some of the better sets.

Well the game can be challenging without slider adjustments. The reason why we decide to use sliders is to get more realistic results and stats. With default sliders, people tend to get crazy stats, and you also start noticing a lot of twitchy gameplay. So the slider adjustments tend to balance it all out.
