CPU QB throwing the ball away right after snap

I'm really frustrated by this one aspect of the CPU AI. Several times per game, the CPU QB takes the snap and immediately throws the ball out of bounds. This often happens when I've dialed up a a blitz, but not always. Is anyone else noticing this and is there a slider to fix it?

I've read some comments on the slider threads about the intentional grounding slider maybe affecting this but some of the comments contradict others, so I'm really unsure.

Can anyone help me with this?

    Drop the Intentional grounding Slider.

Bottom line is 100 IG=Qb will rarely ever take off and will try and throw the ball away at all costs if he feels even a little pressure (sometimes even as soon as the play begins as you are seeing).

0 IG= The WB will scramble at any chance that they get and will rarely ever throw the ball away thats why sometimes this slider being to low can lead to a ton of sacks.

As for contradicting opinions all I can say is any opinion that contradicts the info above is wrong lol.

thanks, man. Will try that out.

But it seems counter-intuitive what you just wrote. Seems like having the IG slider set higher would lead to the QB being more worried about getting the penalty and scrambling more. And dropping the IG slider towards 0 would cause the QB to throw the ball away more, since he doesn't have to worry about the flag.

Yup that is a perfectly understandable point of view/thought process, and that is why people's opinions contradict, because the slider does not react in the way that we think it should. That conclusion up there^ is from hours of testing not what I thought the slider should do because I was thinking the same way.

Even my Slider set I have it set at 99 because I was seeing way too many runs, but now that I am seeing those auto throwaways I am testing at a lower number.

I've been playing with IG at 100 since the game released and see QB's scrambling frequently on varsity level.

I even check the tendency ratings before each game and it's not just the scrambling QB's. I've seen both pocket & balanced QB's take off running during games.

I really don't think IG at 100 absolutely stops them from running because there are other factors that tie into gameplay such as Pass Blocking slider, Tackling slider set low triggers more sack avoidance animations by the CPU QB's in the pocket and Gameplan options (You can also set this for human defense that ties into scrambling QB's).

So there are a few variables IMO that relates to this theory that 100 IG stops QB's from scrambling.

Matt10 recently updated his sliders to give CPU WR-Catching a 45 rating, up from 40. In my experience and his, this seems to have reduced the amount of insta-throwaways considerably. Give it a try.

Also on the IG question, set it at 99 IMO.

The catch slider improves route running and the catch rating, it has no effect on the throw away tendency, the reason this would produce less throwaways is because more receivers are open quicker.

Well...yes. And it seems it does work that way. Between 40 and 45 (varsity D at least) I didn't notice much difference in route running but there must be some tiny difference that pushes it over the edge so the QB doesn't just throw the ball to the coach right at the snap.

Re: CPU QB throwing the ball away right after snap

Every receiver runs routes the same way for the most part, so you wouldn't really see the difference in RR per se. The RR rating effects the percentage of a defender getting faked out (Thats how the rating was defined by an EA Dev) so you would just see more defenders getting faked out>resulting in receivers being open more frequently>resulting in less throwaways.

Back to the OP if you go into practice mode and max out the pass coverage and have the IG slider all the way up the CPU QB will throw the ball away about 80% of the time. If you do the same with IG at 1 he will scramble about 80% of the time ultimately proving that the IG slider is the only Slider that actually effects the CPU QB's frequency of throwaways, but obviously like you said there are other ways to achieve this goal being less throwaways one of them being getting receivers open faster one of which ways would be to improve their route running by improving the catch slider.

You can leave the slider at 50. I have it at 50 and they rarely throw it away right after the snap.

In my personal slider set I use 5 for IG (Got it from Skundy's set) it seems to play towards QB tendencies
