    Side Effect of Threshold

I know what thresh does, at least in theory, lower thresh = more player sepeartion between slow and fast players.

My question is, does anyone have any theory what it does to game speed?

I play single person OD, so when i adjust a slider it doesnt take effect until i advance, with some recent changes at various times i dont know when i changed what.

Anyhow, ive moved progressively up from very slow, to normal game speed, and ive varried thresh from 25 to 95.

Normal seems to be a great speed for me, but my game last night, with thresh = 50, the game just seemed a bit slower than i prefer. Just fired up a play now, game speed normal, same slider set and was playing, and thhe game speed was great. I went and checked, sure enough thresh = 25.

So, is this a variance from play now to dynasty, or an effect of the lower thresh causing the game speed to play a bit faster?

Threshold shouldn't affect the actual game speed. In the testing I did, it seemed to only change the top speed of slower players. Most of your feel of "game speed" comes from acceleration. The other part of it is on big plays when one of your faster guys breaks away. With a lower threshold, it'll feel faster because he's actually breaking away, whereas with a higher threshold it'll feel slower because the defenders are able to stick with him better.

Might be placebo. However, I have definitely noticed threshold affects completions for the cpu on slant routes. I am also seeing a lot of over and under throws by the cpu. Sliders on default.

Just curious I have a question for those who tried lower threshold are u guys scoring more points than default of higher sliders because of the speed difference..? Are u more prone to hit a home run with faster players that would affect the stats and make it look unrealistic..?

I am looking for a base slider with low threshold but at the same time not have my players have ridiculous stats or my team put up crazy numbers of points.

I tested my slider set last night on 10 Thresh (normally at 65) and brought back 4 Kick returns and a Punt for a touchdown with FSU. Now I admit I am above average when it comes to KR/PR but that should not happen, on lower thresh the Special teams coverage just generally sucks.

            Re: Side Effect of Threshold

Disciple, that may be due to the fact that on slants, receivers with decent RR generally accelerate very quickly after their cut. If they have a speed advantage over the CB, they're able to get up to top speed quickly and get separation.

UWfan, there are more big plays, but those do happen and with 8 minute quarters there's time for either side to recover. However I am scoring more often with the lower thresh, even without big plays. I'm considering lowering RBA to account for it, sometimes the run's just too automatic, but I don't want to totally gimp the RB's ability to break big runs. Tough to balance.

Jrue, it seems like 25 is the sweet spot for lower thresh based off what I've read and seen. Try that. I have noticed KR/PR are still relatively easy, but it does of course depend on the speed of your returner. With 25 instead of 10 though, I haven't brought as many back for TD's. Had a few KR to midfield or so, probably more often than normal, but I personally find it fun. If that's the only downside to lower thresh, you can use a returner with lower speed.

0-25 Thresh has worked great for me in my two dynasties.
Additionally, cpu QB completion % have been wonderful.
