Re: DH523's Simulation All-American Sliders NCAA 2014

Game 10 Version 4.0
My 6-4 Mississippi State squad managed to beat down a 2-8 Arkansas team 40-20. They did play me tough well into the 3rd quarter though, at one point my lead was just 23-13 and they had the ball but their QB panicked and threw a gimme INT right to my CB.

Quick Thoughts: Solid game and I admit to feeling some panic when Arkansas suddenly started giving me much more of a fight than I bargained for. Their 3rd string RB ended up scoring on a 63 yard TD run and twice their QB went deep on me with success. I really couldn't do much through the air so I had to lean on the run game.

The Statistics
Total Offense: Mississippi State = 556 yards on 83 plays and Arkansas = 292 yards on 41 plays.

QB Tyler Russell: 16/26 for 220 yards and 1 TD. Sacked 1 time.
QB Brandon Allen: 11/19 for 174 yards and 1 INT. Sacked 4 times (mostly on well timed 3rd down blitzes).
RB Ladarius Perkins: 40 carries for 274 yards and 3 TD. Long of 31. His fatigue was a factor too, negating a few bigger runs.
RB Josh Robinson: 7 carries for 49 yards. Long of 12.
RB Nate Holmes: 6 carries for 77 yards and 1 TD. His 63 yarder was a thing of beauty via blocking set up.
RB Jonathan Williams: 5 carries for 32 yards and 1 TD. Long of 15.
WR Jameon Lewis: 6 catches for 91 yards.
WR Javontee Herndon: 2 catches for 102 yards. He had a great run after catch on a curl & broken tackle for 45 yards for Arkansas.
Mississippi State OL = 5 Pancakes and 1 Sack Allowed.
Arkansas OL = 2 Pancakes and 4 Sacks Allowed.
P Baker Swedenberg = Average 37.0 on 1 Punt
P Zach Hocker = Average 42.2 on 4 Punts

Re: DH523's Simulation All-American Sliders NCAA 2014

Tweaked some of the penalty sliders and coverage sliders after watching games on TV yesterday. Hoping to get more of a 'wide open' feel that can showcase speed and force defenders to rely on angles in the running game with a little tighter coverage but the ability to have wide open pass plays.

Game 11 Ole Miss (5-6) @ Mississippi State (7-4) in the EGG BOWL with Version 4.0 Sliders
Rolled Ole Miss 44-21 mostly because their QB struggled in the passing game and I made just enough big plays to force them to throw the ball and abandon the run.

Quick Thoughts: Immediately noticed a positive change in the 'big play' factor on the ground with the lowered RTK penalty slider. Option plays on both teams had 20+ yard results as a benefit of a lack of deep defenders on the outside.

Defenders were able to pursue and allow low yardage runs (and pass catches) but were more suspectible to a big play as a result too. A lot of my running lanes were tight holes inside for 'just' 3-6 yard gains. True to life the big gain opportunities were to the outside or as a result of taking a defender out of the play on an Option. Safeties were quick to diagnose the run but LBs/CBs were slower to react if a blocker was in the area or they were playing 7+ yards deep from the ballcarrier.

Passing game was both tougher and more realistic. I was able to complete some throws downfield if the WR beat the CB/S but short passes required tighter windows and quicker timing. I even got baited on several throws where the CB closed as I threw the ball. I was able to take advantage of 'correct' playcalls that beat the coverage such as a WR Post down the middle to split a Cover 2 scheme for an 18 yard TD. On the flipside, Ole Miss' QB was able to beat me deep but ran into trouble trying to fit throws into double coverage.

This game really felt more like a college football game instead of a Madden-Lite type game.

The Statistics
Total Offense: Ole Miss = 350 yards on 60 plays and Mississippi State = 586 yards on 82 plays.

QB Bo Wallace = 26/44 for 242 and 2 INT. Sacked 4 times. 11 carries for 49 yards and 2 TD.
QB Tyler Russell = 19/30 for 274 and 3 TD vs 1 INT. 11 carries for 72 yards.
RB Jeff Scott = 4 carries for 60 yards and 1 TD. 11 catches for 70 yards.
RB Ladarius Perkins = 26 carries for 129 yards and 1 TD.
RB Josh Robinson = 8 carries for 32 yards and 1 TD.
WR Vince Sanders = 3 catches for 54 yards.
WR Fred Brown = 4 catches for 91 yards.
WR Robert Johnson = 6 catches for 76 yards and 1 TD.
Ole Miss OL = 4 Pancakes and 4 Sacks Allowed
Mississippi State OL = 4 Pancakes and 0 Sacks Allowed
P Tyler Campbell = Average 40.2 on 7 Punts
P Baker Swedenberg = Average 42.0 on 4 Punts

Game 12 Chik-Fil-A Bowl with Mississippi State (8-4) against #20 Georgia Tech (9-3)
Total dogfight that I just managed to pull off 28-24 despite an early 14-0 deficit and 3 turnovers. Got a fumble inside my own 15 that allowed me to come back and get the go ahead TD.

Quick Thoughts: Fun game and I was curious to see how the Triple Option played. It played really well with big runs from the QB, a good # of handoffs to the FB, and several pitches to the outside. Offensively I struggled to not make mistakes in the passing game and defensively I struggled to keep the option at bay for more than 3-4 plays in a row before they would break out a decent gain.

The Statistics
Total Offense: Georgia Tech = 399 yards on 73 plays (63 runs for 327) and Mississippi State = 446 yards on 63 plays.

Georgia Tech
QB Vad Lee: 5/7 for 56 yards. 25 carries for 125 and 1 TD.
QB Justin Thomas: 1/1 for 16 yards. 10 carries for 21 yards.
FB David Sims: 12 carries for 95 yards.
RB Robert Godhigh: 7 carries for 36 yards.
RB Brian Bostic: 7 carries for 41 yards and 1 TD.
WR Darren Waller: 2 catches for 24 yards.
OL = 7 Pancakes and 2 Sacks Allowed (out of 4 Sacks)
P S. Poole = Average 42.0 on 4 Punts

Mississippi State
QB Tyler Russell: 13/21 for 191 yards and 1 TD vs 1 INT. 20 carries for 126 and 1 TD.
RB Ladarius Perkins: 17 carries for 111 yards and 2 TD.
RB Josh Robinson: 2 carries for 14 yards.
WR Jameon Lewis: 5 catches for 70 yards.
WR Fred Brown: 3 catches for 65 yards and 1 TD.
OL = 5 Pancakes and 2 Sacks Allowed
P Baker Swedenberg: Average 50.0 on 2 Punts

Next post will be my final season statistics...

Re: DH523's Simulation All-American Sliders NCAA 2014

Overall, I'm really happy with how my end of year statistics look. Probably could've used a bit more of a RBBC but Perkins was by far my best player so I rightfully leaned on him. Defensively the autosubs looked to work really well too with 13 players having at least 28+ total tackles.

Mississippi State Final Season Stats (9-4) with Chik-Fil-A Bowl Win

RB Ladarius Perkins: 317 carries for 1,848 yards (5.83 YPC) and 21 TD. Long of 53.
RB Josh Robinson: 67 carries for 388 yards (5.79 YPC) and 5 TD. Long of 43.

Re: DH523's Simulation All-American Sliders NCAA 2014

Thanks RpS! Looks like you had mostly solid results on both sides of the ball as well.

Tried out a test game with Akron using a Triple Option offense after trying out Jrue's "Unleash Infinity" Sliders in game 1. One thing I did like was the CPU QB's ability to go downfield more (same with the RB running north/south more) so I'm going to try and replicate that with this next game by changing the Offense to Heisman Difficulty and slightly upping the Intentional Grounding slider to help try and keep the QB from running 25+ times a game mostly due to pocket scrambles. Everything else will remain the same.

Changes
Offensive Skill = Heisman
Intentional Grounding Slider = 75

Akron @ #17 Michigan Akron = 60 Overall, Michigan = 91 Overall
Final Score: Akron - 9, Michigan - 45.

This was really fun and realistic. I was able to get several 20+ yard runs on offense but had to settle for field goals when close to their end zone on long drives. The difference in 'athleticism' (aka speed) was immediately apparent on both sides. QB Devin Gardner did stay in the pocket a bit more and did go downfield some more too. May try tweaking it a little higher, to 80 or 85.

- Able to run for 229 yards on 53 run plays (Average 4.32 YPC)
- They were 11/18 for 141 passing but ran for 289 yards (RB Fitzgerald Toussaint ran for 195 while RB Derrick Green & QB Devin Gardner combined for 94 and 2 TD)
- Michigan had 2 runs over 20+ yards. I also had 2 runs over 20+ yards but both were QB Keepers.

After comparing Heisman to Varsity, will likely stick to Varsity Difficulty for offense. Not a big enough change overall.

Minnesota never really put up a fight after they went down 14-0. They had to go against what they do best which is running the rock. I let off the gas in the fourth as the backups played most of the quarter. Easy win.
