Definitive Coach Mode Sliders NCAA '14 in the making..

**July 21, 2017**

About this set of sliders...

I've been testing and trying to get the best set of Coach Mode sliders once and for all the last few months. THIS is the best I can get, and so far after a few weeks, I've only had to make one tweak. The idea is of course to get players to play to their ratings, class level, and have coach ratings influence as well. For example, you may get the top QB recruit with a rating of 80 and start him thinking he'll tear it up and be in the run for the Heisman. It's possible, but I've noticed with this set, young players (FR. and SO.) play like young players. I know some people like having a stud FR. come in and go crazy, and I'm fine with that if it happens very rarely. Old slider sets you would see FR. playing as good as SR. Just wasn't realistic to me. SO FAR, it seems this has been fixed with this set. Though, more testing and time will tell for sure.

What I like about this set is the DEFENSE actually shows up! Fumbles, big hits, gang tackling. DBs playing better coverage and knocking down passes. QBs throw offline throws a lot more. This might frustrate people at first because they are so used to marching up and down the field....QBs of any rating passing for 70+% every game...RBs just walking through opposing defenses...etc. Now, these things should only happen if you're playing a weaker team or coach, or of course your guy are rated high 90's across the board. I've had games where I'm playing a better defensive team, but still have good success because their coaches defense aggression is like 40/60 or 50/50. Conversely, I've played weaker defensive teams, but because their coach had a 20/80, or 30/70, their defense played very disciplined and well most the game. So instead of winning say 41-7, I would only win 24-7. Coaches have a big impact now which is great.

Speaking of coaching, to make things interesting, I model my coach settings after whoever my offensive and defensive coordinator are. Otherwise, I consider it kind of cheating the game if you constantly set your defensive aggression at 20/80 and offense at 70/30.

I highly suggest you play 3-5 seasons before rushing to judgment on the set. I'm HOPING this is a final edition, but I'm holding off on that for a bit until I have coached a variety of different teams in my dynasty. Any input and observations is of course appreciated. But like said, I do highly recommend playing with the same settings without any tweaking for 3-5 seasons.

Roster set - 2016 Community Rosters. http://www.operationsports.com/forum...pdate-ps3.html

It is very important to be using a roster set like this one that has all the coaches sub frequency set at default 50, and the coaching aggressive/conservative set accordingly. However, if you are using some other set that doesn't have the coaches edited correctly, It is now widely known that Offensive aggression should be no lower than 50 for coaches. a setting of 50 is for your very conservative offenses. For Defensive aggression, extremely good defenses say like Alabama, Saban is set to 20/80. The higher you go (30/70, 40/60, etc...) the weaker the defense, so to speak. This should never go above 50/50.

Playbooks - Default.

Controls - Coach (This is the option screen that lists Profile, Offense, Defense, Controls, Done...right before you start your next game)

My House Rules....

Coach Progression - Very Slow

Coach Skills - I only level up on Recruiting. I don't touch anything on Game Management.

DO NOT FAST SIM any play. Fast Sim will not adhere to the slider settings.

Accelerated Clock - can only be used in the 4th quarter in the last 2 minutes in order to keep the total amount of plays realistic.

Optional Recruiting House Rules are you can only recruit 3 Star players and up with as many players you are scheduled to lose (Seniors) at seasons end. You are free to recruit as many 1-2 Star players as you like. Can only recruit players who have you in their Top 10 if they are 3 stars and up. You are free to recruit any 2 and 1 star players regardless if you are on their top 10 list or not.

Other house rule is regarding playbooks/coaches. Basically, if I'm the Head Coach, I have to use whatever playbook my OC and DC have. I also tailor my aggression/playcall settings to match theirs as close as possible. Conversely, if I'm a coordinator, I change my playbooks/sliders to whatever the Head Coach's are.

As a personal preference, I set all coaches in the game to Conservative No Huddle to eliminate up-tempo no-huddle offenses. So that being said, how the game/settings will react to no-huddle offenses, I'm not sure. I think no-huddle on here isn't fair to the CPU because the CPU never changes their play, so if I catch them blitzing, I can just no huddle all the way down the field usually with no problem. To each their own though, I just prefer every team huddle (unless of course you're in a true hurry up in the last quarter playing from behind).

These work well for CPU vs CPU as well. However, in order to get the right amount of plays, adjust the quarters to 9 min in length.

Is this for the actual coach mode or are you playing reg mode with auto pass on and you do not touch the ball carrier ?

I'll be testing your sliders out BlackRain, one question. I'm just an OC right now, and I run at 7 minute quarters. I also run a HUNH offense, so I'm wondering what I should do. I watch all the snaps, even those that I'm not selecting plays, for the sake of better statistics.

First game was alright. North Texas was literally impossible to stop when they passed the ball. I think the Qb started 11 for 11 or something like that. My offense never really got anything going until the end but that was me getting used to coach mode again. Im gunna play a few more games tonight and ill post the results.

Second game was ALOT better! I still had major problems putting the ball in the end zone ( Have yet to accomplish this), but i was moving the ball very well. The defense seems to be the problem however. Im convinced that its just the low rated players on my Umass team, but cant stop wondering whether its that or zero coverage by my team. The only other thing i can think of is im getting weak pass rush which in turn makes their pass game much easier. Another thing im noticing is NO INTS for either teams yet. I know its only been two games but its very rare for me to play to games without seeing at least one pick from either teams.

Overall, even though i still lost i had fun this entire game and cant wait to get the third game going. Let me know if you have had the same secondary problems and what i can do to fix it if you know how. Not talking about adjusting sliders, more talking about how to stop slants and curls going for 25+ yards
