Re: Playmakers CPU vs CPU Varisty level sliders

SN: I like slow game speed as well. Switched to that about 1/4 of the way through my last game. Looks really nice!

I'm currently still playing on default AA but in my mind I should be on Varsity. I feel like the best difficulty to play coach mode or CPU vs CPU on is the one that encompasses every player in the league of choice. In college football, not everyone is a freshman, all-American, and only one guy wins the Heisman but EVERYONE in the nation is Varsity!!

Re: Playmakers CPU vs CPU Varisty level sliders

Just realized I never posted my Auto subs

These have been the settings I've used since the game release

AUTO SUBS OUT/IN

OFFENSE
QB-65/70
RB-84/85
WR-65/70
FB/TE-65/70
OL-20/25

DEFENSE
DT-84/85
DE-84/85
LB-65/70
CB-65/70
S-65/70

I tend to see a constant rotation on the DL especially doing long drives and the RB's will frequently sub out after long runs or after 3-4 straight carries.

I've seen teams utilize up to 3 different backs often in my Dynasty games

But also keep in mind I have edited stamina with Historic rosters I use so results may vary.

Under Coach Options I set Sub percentage for all teams to max 85% both Offense and Defense

Example of Stamina

All RB's rated 80 and below
All DT's rated 70 and below
All DE's rated 80 and below

All RB's rated 80 and below for carrying allows more fumbles into the game even with the low tackle slider.

I've seen fumbles created even when I had the tackle slider at 0 vs RBA slider at 50

I also used the Strip the Ball feature at aggressive to trigger more animations but I've gone away from that in CPU vs CPU gameplay

Obviously I can't tell people to edit rosters or use edited rosters for the game but IMO at the end of the day it provides replay value to the game even if it's just for a short while in Dynasty mode.

Edited rosters depending on what the individual is editing could lead to more SIM results on the field, more unlocked animations and things that you don't see as much with default EA rosters.

Like for example DE's driving OL backwards because their power rush move is rated higher than the OL strength rating.

Punts that actually fall short inside the 20 yard line without bouncing into the end zone every time do to edited punters power and strength ratings..

For more information on ratings you can always hit the search button on forums.

There are several guys who do a great job breaking down how ratings work hand in hand with gameplay and animations at the same time.

My personal favorite is Gotmadskillz.....I create my own rosters but incorporate a lot of his findings in the rosters to get desired results I want to see.

Players are more likley to make mistakes on Varsity which i love...

On the 2nd set of Sliders posted I finally moved the WR Catch Slider up from 35 to 40 and then increased the Pass Caverage Slider back to Default 50...

At 35 I was seeing too many drops by the WR's at 40 i saw maybe 2-3 drops but they looked much more legitimate.

Played two games with the new settings and loved the results out the 4 QB's

Joe Hamilton completed 51% with 2 picks
Jim Kelly completed 60%
Dee Dowis of Air Force completed 48% with 1 pick
Roger Staubach of Navy completed 56%

I believe on Varisty Level WR Catch has a huge IMPACT on completion% and Accuarcy of throws....

The Pass Defense Slider on this level seems to be more geared towards YPC or Attempt by the QB's and the INT Slider is more geared towatds the defenders making a play on the ball

Believe it or not the INT slider doesn't really cause more INT's with it higher it just makes players react much better when the ball is in the air near the defender.

If you Balance out that slider with the WR catch Slider you'll start to see some incredible WR vs DB interaction going for the ball especially on deep throws.

I've seen a few DPI calls but nothing consistent....

Really love this mode because the more i tweak it the better results I seem to get but you have to be patient and ride out the sliders for a few weeks because things change from game to game and making changes every other game doesn't work well in CPU vs CPU mode...

One game a guy might throw for 300 yards and the next game he could look average and only throw for 150-200 I've seen that throughout my Historic Dynasty and I watch like 2-3 games on the schedule for each week so i get to see several different teams and players.

Watched my last game on Varsity and it was nice to see the QBs, for example, miss wide open uncovered WRs. Won the game 30-27 and now have my Akron team at 6-5 in year 2.

Had a goal line stand while up 27-20 and went 3 and out giving them the ball back after which they tied the game. Was just fun to watch and soooo enjoyable in the end.

Re: Playmakers CPU vs CPU Varisty level sliders

Playmakers,

I have a couple of questions for you. I would like to use OS community rosters from 2013, which are essentially EA stock rosters with coaches edited. Josh and J18 have suggested on the 50 threshold slider set to lower the defensive aggressiveness between 30-50 and increasing some of the offensive aggressiveness among other suggestions to improve play calling and game play. Is CPU vs CPU totally different and I should not worry about straying from default as far as aggressiveness and run/pass ratio? What are your thoughts or suggestions regarding coaching edits.

Re: Playmakers CPU vs CPU Varisty level sliders

I would definitely suggest using edited coaching strategies for aggressiveness with any slider set or mode you play on.

It just adds another level of simulation to the game.

Threshold might be different because i've only tested gameplay with a zero threshold setting which is different in regards to cpu vs cpu as opposed to human vs cpu gameplay.
