As with any other tedious work, it is all relative to how you hold your tongue. Get the tongue placement just right and you'll win 7 out of 10 times.

Luck. Other than the my current bid screen, there is no other thing to do. Some people like bidding constantly for the last minute to get in a rhythm, but it hasn't worked when I've tried it.

One other thing that helps is connection speed. I've noticed since I switched to wired that the current bid screen comes up faster.
