Please Eliminate the Double CB Blitz and Engage Eight from the Playbooks

These two plays are called WAY too much in both Madden and NCAA and are called almost never in real life. The problem is that they are in every playbook and in every formation set. I see them as often as I see Cover 2 or Cover 3.

Last year in the NFL, the average team brought 7+ blitzers less than 2% of the time and the team leader was at less than 5%.

I've never seen both outside CBs blitz except against special formations like the Wildcat.

Even conservative blitz teams are sending these blitzes regularly. At least in Madden we can change the CPU's gameplans.

Totally agree. Eliminating the bad plays from the playbooks would make the computer look a lot smarter than it does at times. These two plays should never be used by anyone. If I ever call the Double CB blitz I will always hot route the CB on the wide side of the field to a zone and not to blitz.

Bumping this up because it is a must. This has been a problem in these games for entirely too long.

These plays should be removed from all playbooks. Coaches simply don't send both CB's without pulling someone else back into coverage.

These kinds of plays should only be in the Goal Line defense set if they are to remain in the game.

Agreed. Keep the plays in the goal line package, but that is it!

I've said this before when talking about this on another website. But I dont think that the CB Blitzes and Engage Eight plays need to be taken out, I think the problem is players dont know when to call the plays or how to properly use the play.

TCU has a playcalled MOB 0 Cop, where they blitz 8 players, I create a version of this play with the Engage 8 when I see the personnel for I-Tight. Do the Plays need to be removed from the playbooks NO. Does the Computer's Defensive Playcall Logic needs to be fixed. Definately.

I don't have a lot of confidence in the cpu logic to be improved. Barring that the easiest solution is to simply remove the plays the cpu sucks at running or at least reduce the cpu tendency to call them.

The problem isn't with a human calling them because we can hot route and change it up a little. It's with the CPU calling it. So yes, please remove it. It's an easy 30+ yards every time.

on engage 8, three things are wrong. if the coverage was man instead of zone, the blitzers had gap responsbility, and peeled off if backs released, it would be more realistic. a lot of teams run gap 8 in short yardage situations, man up the wr's/te's, gap up a-d, and have backers peel off if the backs release. this gets to a larger issue- there is no rhyme or reason to defense on ncaa. i'm not a programmer, but it doesn't seem to be that hard to program gap responsiblity.
