News Flash!! If you are a college player, and a senior, you are only going to be in the game for one season. I can give 2 bangs about real college players. I'm just as happy as auto generating names.

Re: EA Sports College Football Facing Licensing Issues

As someone who is playing the game I agree with others that I don't really care about real players. The NFL is different because guys stick around longer and with free agency, etc it's more important to know who other players in the league are. Though I wonder how they will implement transfers since it's so much easier now. Anyway, It's a nice bonus if they have real player names but not a deal breaker as a gamer (for me- who only plays dynasty).

From EA's side though they should really just pony up and pay more. If they lose players then they lose a ton of money with College Ultimate Team (Funny no residuals but the amount of money EA can make on this and they are trying to take all of it, typical) As lots of people always complain about Madden catering to the MUT crowd because of how much money they spend I don't see them losing out on all that money. You'd have thought they would have negotiated better before this info slipped out but these companies always do stupid crap. Plus, if they had a deal with another company why are they going around them and inviting another lawsuit. We don't know all the inner dealings here but seems like not the best choices being made.

Yeah if I am at a smaller college or whatever I might be like I just want to be in the game but I've never played at that level of college sports. It probably gets old seeing how much money is generated and you aren't even allowed to get a part-time job (though I guess that changed with NIL's and such). It's easy to say just take whatever until you are in their shoes. Then again I almost always side with labor in these types of things so my opinion is based off of that.

I wonder if they lose out on real player names and likenesses if they still release this game or only release this first version since it's so far along, assuming sales aren't through the roof since it's been a while since a College game has come out. I would bet that they are looking at College MUT as just printing money.

I cant say I'm surprised. With 11,000 plus players, EA is going to wind up needing to deal with more than acouple unions. I imagine their will be at least 1 union for every conference of players. Without real players, I dont see why EA would need to do a game every year. One years version could last me three years with out real players, before I would consider buying a newer version. Real players is the only way I would buy every years game.

Plus, how realistic are the individual player models going to look each year? It's one thing to add a draft class into Madden each year, but doing the work to model/scan that many new players every single college season seems insane. They will likely look somewhat generic either way.

On that same note, why sign something that could potentially screw all the people coming after just to be in the game for 1 season?

Didn't several schools say they would only be in the game if the players were payed? I think it is a bigger deal then some let on.

It would be foolish if EA allows this to delay the game. People will buy this game whether real players are in this game or if it features fully customizable rosters that can be uploaded by gamers for share

You would have to guess that with NIL that roster sharing would be out.

Opt in or out. Simple as that. I'm sure this is more the licensing agency trying to get more money than the players. Smh.

Players can opt in: it’s up to the players whether or not they get paid. All of these other collectives are pissed that EA didn’t do business with them and want a piece of the action: they couldn’t care less about the players.

too many variables when it comes to NIL, paying players etc.... worst case scenario this game will not come out if it has real collegiate players likeliness, which in-itself is a grey area.

Game is about a year away and a few weeks away, I think something will be worked out by then.
