That's a good point that I never fully understood either. I can understand the failing a class or breaking the law. But I have never heard of the NCAA punishing any school because players were missing workouts. I don't think the NCAA has any say over that kind of stuff. Of course the school and coaches would be upset.

My theory was that they cared because they were seeing if you were running a clean program. If you were allowing certain players to be able to bend minor rules they would be more adapt to investigate you.

I guess that makes sense. So when something bigger does happen they are more likely to throw down sanctions if you aren't the cleanest program to begin with.

Maybe they would want to prevent it happening again with something more important. I da know, just a guess.
