Red face NCAA Gamer looking to upgrade to Plasma.....

Should I get 42" Plasma or 32" LCD? I was told I have to worry about burn in on the Plasma if a game a lot.

I am looking at the new Samsungs.....

Re: NCAA Gamer looking to upgrade to Plasma.....

There is a moderate chance of burn in with Plasmas. Check this comparison out for a breakdown on Plasmas and LCD's.

I would just make sure you got 720P and 1080I support along with either HDMI/DVI connections on any model you get. Always keep your options open for future upgrading, the more connection input/outputs the better.

I'm not a ***** but yea, plasmas are the worst for burn in. LCD would be a better choice but then you have to worry about "dead" pixels. I myself have a 53" projection...

Re: NCAA Gamer looking to upgrade to Plasma.....

Like everyone else has said it is not good to play games on plasma because of the burn, LCD last longer too, The gas in plasma's dims after about 5-10 years, but they can't be fixed when the gas does go, but on LCD's they can be fixed. Most places offer a warranty for plasma's that they will replace them for free if anythign goes wrong and it can't be fixed

A mentality exists that LCDs and Plasmas are 'better' than regular old CRT (tube) TVs. It isn't true.

The new CRTs have much better pictures overall than LCD and Plasma. Of course, tube TVs are bigger and heavier and aren't as slick or cool looking.

If you are looking for best picture, look for a top notch CRT.

I recommend a plasma.. Better contrast...Better at displaying Blacker then black images.. No motion bluring..dead pixels.. & burn in is practically a non issue with the newer plasmas..

CRTS still offer the best PQ over the newer tech, but CRTs are also old, Bulky, weight a ton, & aren't easy to move..& just don't look cool..
