No he is still the same player, just decided to walk on instead of transfer.
Precisely.... So that is why Im thinking, for it to matter in this GAME, what could be/should be done to make deciding to accept a scholarship actually mean something? Otherwise all youre doing is being as good at the drills as you can be then taking your guy to your school of choice without recourse.

Maybe your "smarts" should be factored in. Meaning, many schools are much harder to get accepted to than others based on Test Scores and GPA, so maybe you are given a choice to "sacrifice" some of your initial physical ratings in favor of better GPA scores to allow you to get into the school you want to... or you could choose not to do that and go to the best football school you can get into with you mediocre GPA/Test Scores... just an idea...

But as I see it, the scholarship thing is merely cosmetic this year. But, I do have ideas on how it could really be expanded to make a difference, ie. you must choose to dedicate certain time to studies vs "practice", etc., or else you may lose your scholarship...

Anyhow.... I guess I can make it work this year too though, lol.... just have to use my imagination!!

There's a problem with all of that though. Walk on players typically weren't deemed as being good enough to earn a scholarship. Yes there are some walk ons who end up starters and even stars and get offered scholarships down the road, but they are few and far between. The majority off them just aren't up to level of many of the scholarship players. I do think that after you prove yourself during the drills in the mode it would be weird to have lower ratings if you were a walk on, but like someone else said, what is really the point in the scholarship offers if you can just go anywhere else and be the same player regardless. I know when I try it out I am only going to take the scholarship offers, just because I don't see the point in being able to go anywhere. I'm going to take what they give me.

Exactly, I dont think ratings SHOULD change or anything.... but I would like to have seen something being different as a walk-on over a scholarship. Also, Im sure EA had their reasons when desiging it, but I still dont understand the whole "creating" your guy AFTER the drills and scholarship offers, instead of before. Especially considering 90% of schools thaty offer kids scholarships, "shop locally/regionally" so by you having to put in your hometown and all that BEFORE the drills/offers, you MAY get more local offers as opposed to the seemingly random offers as it stands now.

Personally, I'll save playing for USC for my dynasty, for RFTH I'll choose from the scholarship offers.

I'm sure EA threw the walkon deal in without penalty to assuage the users that REALLY wanted to play RFTH but wanted to pick their fav school.

But I DO agree there should be SOME penalty otherwise the offers are MEANINGLESS.

I agree. I am using UF in my dynasty so I don't need to be on them in RFTH. In that I am actually hoping I get some random team I would never have thought about.

To those who have the game, when you pick to walk on wherever, does it list them by preseason ranking or does it put it by conference?

Hopefully next year they'll have you imput everything first then do the drills. If you do midlevel in Ohio you get offers from BGSU, Toledo, and maybe WVU. You do midlevel in Texas it's TTech, TCU, and Arkansas. That way you're more likely to get a school you perfer as opposed to Georgia Tech, Oregon St, and Syracuse or some goofy combination like that.

I think i might intentionally do bad in the mini-camp so I have lower stats and really see if I can work my player up.
