Onside Kick - Recoveries possible

I actually recovered one and it led to me pulling out the W! I was playing with Nebraska and ND and was trailing the whole game. My offense was pathetic, but my defense and special teams was keeping me in the game (INT returned for a TD and a punt return for a TD). Anwyay, I scored to make it 33-27 with a little over a minute to go, so I went (for what I thought) was the futile onside kick (I could never recover them in prior years). I adjusted the kick meter and went for it. Immediately I knew the ball wouldn't go 10 yards and thought that one of my guys would grab it and I'd get a flag. Instead, the ball took a high second bounce, ND's front line converged on the ball, didn't handle it cleanly and a pile ensued with everyone fighting for the ball. I came out with the ball. I was stunned. I proceeded to head down the field and score with 50 seconds left to pull out my #1 greatest game. But not without a scare - ND drove all the way down to my 2 yard line before time ran out (hail mary and I tackled him at the 2).

Re: Onside Kick - Recoveries possible

I've akways used the following trick to recover onside kicks (this year and previous years):

1) Select a normal kickoff
2) Aim the arrow all the way up and slightly to the right (right-footed kicker) or left (left footed kicker)
3) Try for about 70% power and perfect accuracy
4) Immediately after kicking the ball, switch to nearest player and sprint to where the kick is going to land
5) The CPU will call a fair catch, try to catch the ball or swat it before they catch it.

If you don't run into the returner, no penalty will be called.

Try it and see if it works.

Yea, onside kicks have'nt been to hard to pull off. Especially since EA incorporated some programming that made the ball bounce in and out of ppls hands when the ball is "live".
